3D printed MZD 7-14 Lee 100mm holder adapter works!

Here the quoted sketch to build the interface ring respect to the LEE holder. The dimensions are measured with a caliber and so they could be affected by an error, but my rings works perfectly and the link with holder is stable.

I hope this sketch could help someone to create own photographic accessories.

Enjoy.

Excellent work, As one of the Beta testers I would just like to say how impressed I am with the design of the 3d printed adaptor, and my only criticism was the slight vignetting at 7mm due to the lens picking up the edge of the Lee cover plate.

I have also constructed a 'Frankenholder' using a Cokin universal adaptor ring and Lee wide angle ring glued together, this works at 7mm without vignetting (with a 2 slot holder using 1 filter in the front slot) but light leaking through the sides of the holder prevents the use of a 6 or 10 stop ND.

The 3d printed design allows the use of solid ND filters without light leakage so the new slot design should be perfect.

Image taken using 7-14mm f2.8 with NiSi ND64 (6 stop ND) 25 seconds at 8mm

Cheers

Steve

Thank you for the feedback :)

I looked at your site. I see you like trains!

Was that filter on the stationary trains using your own rails or Lee's?

That's of my own rails, but cropped a little to get a horizontal photo.

It is more like this:

A third sample, made from two frames, one is 1/4s shutter for the train and another with a ND1000 for 55s, however, not at 7mm

Proof that the filter holder works! Nice picture.

Even at 12 mm :-).

Some of my efforts with two types of filter holder all with a HiTech 0.9 grad. I am still looking for an opportunity to use a Big Stopper.

All of these are at 7mm for the first two using the old 34 7-14 lens cap and HiTech filter holder there is minimal cropping (but lots of Nik editing)

0.9 grad used on the sky

A bit over processed (0.6 grad used slight rotation - approx 5degrees, minimal vignette - HiTech holder

the second two are using the 3D printed adapter (beta) and a Lee holder. There was cropping (about 3% total) as there was a black vignette due to the Lee rails (plus lots of Nik processing!)

No rotation - slight crop of a 7mm focal length

as above

A bit boring as pics (the bales) I know but what this does show is that it is possible to use filters on the m7-14! Of the two for shear elegance I prefer the 3D printed holder, it may still need a few tweaks as I am using a beta but it is light and robust, the adapted HiTech holder ... is robust but difficult to align.

I have done another version of slot, it works better

Photo taken with ND1000 and GND SE 0.9, leaving the third slot empty

This slot will probably be the final version, although I find with its extreme design there is still a little dark edge in the frame, I am very happy with the photo I think it's hardly noticiable.

Excellent news on the new slot version, looking forward to trying the final version.

Here is a panoramic taken out of my window the other evening.

Awesome!

I have taken another shot yesterday, ND64 + 0.9 HE + 0.3 HE inverted to get a 0.6 RGND

I have the final version of slot, it works with 3 filters and is easy to use.

I have known some issues with beta testing, the adapter works well in general situations but have some problem in extreme situation. The improved version on the way of production, hope this time we can get all problems away.

I would like to try/use on your product very much. Is there any possibility that I can purchase asap?
