FZ1000- is the noise an issue?

I really like this FZ1000, but Dpreview talks about the humming noise from the camera and that you can hear it with your ear up to the unit. I know all the good features. Sounds like it would be annoying to have this noise....So the 2 part question is:

Is this just a bad copy, or does everyone have this issue?

Yes, I think it's the pre-focus mechanism in action. It stops when the camera retracts the lens in review mode. You tend to notice it when using the EVF as the camera is close to your right ear. It doesn't bother me, and you only notice it in a quiet room.

I have not done any videos yet so do not know if an issue with the FZ1000's built-in mikes.

I suffer from mild to severe tinnitus (i.e., continuous whistling tea pot in each ear) so unable to hear.

Yes! The RAW files image quality are as good as my 70D at lower ISO's and need to do pixel peeping to see differences below 1600 ISO. My FZ1000_RRPL album has auto exhibit pics; most are at 1600 ISO.

The continuous noise is the optical image stabiliser mechanism which is always on when the camera is powered on and the lens partly extended ready for use. It interferes with video sound recording if an external microphone is not used.

Otherwise it is almost inaudible unless one's ear is placed directly on the lens.

It is perfectly normal for this camera.
