This is the weekly Show Your Snaps thread where we invite you to show your own snapshots or even choice pictures. I'll be sure to comment about your photos, if you choose to share.

When you are posting your own images please submit them as a reply to this post. Otherwise your pictures may be overlooked. You might also consider describing your pictures in the subject title. See my own photos for this week as a reply.

Remember it's all about the enjoyment of taking pictures regardless of what we have. We can learn from each other and it's fun to share too. Thanks everyone for your participation.

This past Saturday I went to our annual Rose Parade. With sunny weather, I had to be careful to choose the right locations between the building shadows. I'll just show a few of them out of the hundreds that I took. On one camera I took over 550 pictures on one battery charge. I don't know how many more I could have taken. I chimp a lot, but use the viewfinder for them...but still...the Canon T2i (550D) does well in that regard.

Photo No. 1 - Before the parade began people filled the street, using chalk to play games.

Photo No. 2 - Here's the same area but I took this from high above. Notice the building shadows and how it can affect the photos.

The picture looks good. I know it is difficult at times to catch butterflies since they can move around quickly. I have more luck with damselflies if I'm careful.

A few pictures from this last weekends overnight backpack trip to White River on Mt Hood. I had wanted to try a night river scene, and for my first attempt, I wasn't too disappointed.

Wow...that's neat. I especially like the first one where we can see the stars too. I was there about two years ago, where I took photos in the daytime. A cloud formed around Mt. Hood only to break away later in the afternoon.

This was once a beautiful arch that joined the two rocks but it has been wahed away by the constant beating of the waves .

After the Rose Parade, I went around taking a few more photos. I hadn't done that for a while in our city of Portland, Oregon.

You live in such a pretty area. I could look at those photos all day long. :) I especially like the picture of the coconut trees on the beach...last one is great too.

Thanks i was long overdue for a road trip there , even got some birds .

I saw an interesting shape in this object from this point of view, but it wasn't until I played with it in Photoshop that an interesting image emerged.

Hi all,

Walking parts of the Canal system that are new to me, this canal is about 26 miles long, starting in my home town. So I've been using the car to take me further along and then doing my walks.

It does looking interesting like it's rays of light. Is that a tall building?

Yes, the baby does look like he's being fussy. Did he wake up from a long nap?

Those are nice images. You really did great with the heron photo in terms of composition.
