There's a bug in the latest Firefox that causes text boxes to either be disabled, or disappear!

For instance this is the DPR posting screen after "upgrading"...notice that the text box where you'd type the subject is MISSING!!!!

This is ANY site with a text box...on Google the text box is still visible, but when you click on it, it doesn't become "live" and you can't type anything in. Same with Hotmail.

If haven't tested the Windows version yet...so far I did it on two of the Macs I use.

Here's an image showing what happened to DPReview after upgrading to Firefox 34...of course it's not just DPR that's affected!

Thanks for the information. I've got Firefox ready to install V34 but haven't done it because of your warning. I'm running Yosemite on a MacBook Pro.

Maybe I'll install it on my old MacBook and see if it explodes.

I'm running pre-Mavericks on both machines, but like I said the issue only happened when I switched to FF34.

Not sure where your problem is, but it's fine on my machines, which are all Yosemite except one Mountain Lion. You said you have pre-Mavericks OSs; perhaps your problem lies with the outdated software.

Perhaps instead of writing an alarmist subject line with exclamation points and a word in all-caps, you could have had a subject line saying you were having problems, and asking if anyone else was experiencing the same situation. I notice another poster is also reporting no problems with different OSs.

I use Chrome more than Safari and Firefox, but do use all three on all of my machines for Google, DPr, etc. This reply is being typed while using Firefox 34.0.5.

Updated to correct browser reference in last sentence.

I updated to 34.0.5 on this computer and am not seeing any problems. I'm going to update my new Mac now (it's backed up anyway).

I updated my newer MacBook and it seems to work fine. Strangely enough, it has 34.0 while my old machine has 34.0.5.

The only problem is that it wanted me to change to Yahoo search, presumably due to some war with Google.

It's one of the add-ons I have on multiple machines causing the issue. I'll have to wait until I'm back at work to compare what I have on both machines. Will keep you (and keeping Mozilla) informed when I find out more.

I already reported this to Bugzilla but to keep you updated, the troublesome addon is called "Keyfixer 0.5"...it's an addon to change the way the Home and End keys perform on Macs (so it would never be an issue on Windows since you wouldn't install it on a Windows version of Firefox):

I'm off now to give feedback to the author of the addon, and see if there's another one that does the same job but actually works with Firefox 34...it would drive me nuts (to the point of swearing) if I'm stuck with the way Mac's Home and End keys normally work without this addon as my job requires regularly writing online.

Are you sure that you are signed in?
You'd think a user with over 10,000 posts over 12 years they'd know whether they were logged in or not!

And anyway it was happening to EVERY site, not just DPR. I first noticed the issue with my work website after upgrading to FF34, the search box was missing from the customer end and when I went to the admin side the text boxes for me to log in my user name and password were also missing...that's what cause me to panic thinking there was an issue with FF34.

Although anyway, if you read my other replies in this thread you'd know I already found the troublesome addon (although it's one of my favorites and most relied on), and after disabling the addon everything worked perfectly again.
