k50 or k5

i'll have a look don't know if there's any deals in the UK but worth a look

just had a quick look can rule that out, its more expensive

Having read everything about the k30/50/5/5ii there doesn't seem to be any major differences between any of them. They all seem very capable cameras and all would fit my needs so i think i'll go for whichever one i can get the best deal on.

Sound logic IMO. Good luck.

k-5 had some bugs that the k-5II/s (and probably k-50) presumably solved.

(AF hardware, less reliable lens release button come to my mind)

Ask not what your camera can do for you, but what you can do for your camera

Thats it put doubts in my head :-) Has anyone had these issues? i like the build and ergonomics of the k5, its more what i'm used to and would rather get that and have some extra cash for a better lens, i'd go for the k5ii but from what i've read i cant see its worth another £300

Well bought a k5 fantastic condition no af or other issues for £280 and a k30 in barely used ,£200 hadn't planned on two but at those prices too good to turn down

Nice! Which lenses did you get in the end?

Both come with the 18-55 so I'll sell one of those I'll probably get the 35 2.4 as its seems like the Nikon 35 1.8 in that price/performance wise your getting a lot for very little

Agree. Keep the WR 18-55 if one is. Also the Pentax 50 1.8 is good value for the money, IMO.

Cheers.

ones wr so will keep that so if i do need it in bad weather wont be a problem, was thinking 50mm, thats what used to spend a lot of time on my 60d (when i had) but sometimes found it a bit long on crop.

I don't why (well actually I do) but I look at the video capabilities of the two.

K-5 - Pros: Mic port, mechanical SR, bigger battery

Cons:Limited HD recording time, inferior codec (but still quite useful)

K-50 - Pros: Greater recording time in HD, newer codec, improved AF

Cons: No mic port, smaller battery

Everything else is a wash - they both have the great 16mp sensor. The K5 is a magnesium body, but the polycarbonate of the K50 is quite good.

I really do not care about the top LCD - shooting with a K-01 and Kx, I only ever missed my front control dial. All pertinent readings are in the viewfinder or back lcd.

Another thing, is the 18-55 a wr? If not, then I really would not consider lenses because quite frankly I would sell the 55-200WR to get something either with more reach (like a 55,75-300 lens) or lets in more light (2.8).

For what I shoot, which is covering stuff for a newspaper, I would need the mic port, and go with the K5. Thinking long-term when you buy another body, there is a release port on the K-5 (so you can use for time-lapse) bigger battery, ability to slap an aftermarket battery grip on it, the K-5 makes more sense to me.

If you go with the K-50, can you give me the contact for the K-5 seller?

I think you've missed a post I've bought the k5 and a k30.2 great deals

I think I'll pay a little extra and get the 35mm 2.8 macro limited

yes have looked at that but the 18-55 will do for now just want to add a prime and the 55-300

So pleased with the k5 what a peice of kit! I loved my canon 60d but it knocks the socks off it in many ways, I can only think Pentax are letting themselves down with marketing as price and quality they're amazing value.Newsystem so will get used to it with ease as it so well layed out.
Decided on the da 50mm 1.8 as I've read nothing bad about it and dxomark have it above all the other primes bar 1, so it's a no brainer
