Amazon UK is showing Nikon 1 V3 as discontinued by manufacturer.

It would be nice to see Nikon try something similar to what Sony is doing with their a7 line.

A friend just got the Sony a7s, and man that thing is a monster in low light.

If Nikon would do something like that with the Nikon 1 line, then they'd have a winner for sure!

I'm happy buying second hand too - I think I will look out for a nice used V2 instead. All this uncertainty is off putting.
Exactly. It is very difficult for me to justify the price of the V3 in todays economic climate. I sold all of my 1 gear back in Feb except the V1 because I went through the same thing I keep a sharp eye out for used gear however and use the 1 series as teaching tools. Last month picked up a V2 for $220 US with the 30-110. Understandably Nikon doesn't make much from folks like me. I do enjoy the system but would not pay full price with the uncertainty.

Funny thing is, the V3 kit has only just shown up on the listings in Hong Kong. Maybe they have pulled the 1-system from Europe and the US?

Interesting. The camera was announced on March 13, 2014 ... so it's only been out about 5 months now.
given half the EVF's were faulty, loud barriers to widespread market adoption (both retail and design related), restructuring at Aptina, and a consensus that the feature set was largely uncompetitive ... Nikon may just have decided to cut their loses and press the reset button.

if this rumor is correct, i don't think this means the end of the N1 line. given strong praise/demand for the 70-300mm Cx, and Nikon's open apology to their customers, it might even suggest they're working hard on a replacement model (V310 or V4).

looking at how low a refurbished SB-N7's is being sold for at Adorama may also hint at what they have in mind for a replacement. JMO.

I just noticed that both the V3 body as well as V3 kit are listed as discontinued. Looking more and more "real".

Where, you mean Amazon? Amazon could make a mistake, but if it's Nikon... (not that Nikon as we have seen can't make a mistake but.. :-) ).

For weeks to no end they have never had them in stock that I know of... Mmm....

Its all over the internet now that the V3 is discontinued, many sites are saying it is.

What do we hear from Nikon?

Nothing.

No confirmation.

No denial.

Amazon have not changed the status either.

Odd.

I wonder what is next for the 1...thats the bigger question.

Yea. I'm interested in what other sites as well. Nikon UK has 0 results for Nikon V3 in their store. Also of note Amazon Canada has zero results for v3 as well. Not sure if Canada ever carried it though.

Not official sites, just Nikon owners sites commenting on the rumours.

Just to say, I don't think the V3 has ever been on the Nikon UK store. I have looked there several times over the last few months and it hasn't been listed.

I assumed it was because of the Wex/jessops arrangement they had going.

cheers,

Graham
