Look at what I went and got!

I hope it is a female... Dal's will EAT everything in the house when puppies. Make sure everything, shoes, jewelry, wallets, cameras, gadget bags, EVERYTHING is up on a counter or shelf.

I used to call it "dog proofing"... our Dal ate my first wife's jewelry (it was in a leather bag on the bed.

I had to follow the dog around with a strainer for a week to recover everything. But I did.

Sure miss mine. He died not too long ago. :(

Good luck.

Joe, Great looking dog, but if you run Neat Image I think you can get rid of all those unsightly spots. Or is it an all-black dog, and you overexposed the highlights?

But seriously, folks, that little dog looks like a real sweetheart. But don't let near your Nikon brand chew toys, er. . . camera gear.
It's official, my newlywed wife and I basically have a kid around
the house now!

Wow, ouch!, and I'm sorry to hear about your Dal.

I'm excited because this is our first of the breed. We have two separate friends who own them and are pretty used to their temperment. I'm in the process of dog-proofing as I write this.

BTW - he's a male named 'Patch'

Joe: Go to http://www.autoweek.com and scroll down to photo of racer
driver with wreath, below that click on red text that leads you to
photos. Some of my best (old BW stuff).
Great stuff there! I love the body-styles on the old cars. One image wasn't showing though (3rd one in series.) I would love to try and shoot autosports. I haven't found the right contacts yet to get me into a race, though I have been asking since the Dover Downs (in DE) are about 40 minutes south of me.

Our first dal was named "spot" (now that's orginal) a female. No. 2 was a male named "Deputy."

I couldn't get the Schumacher one to open either. Now I got to find the magazine on the newsstand... there may be more stuff in there.

Pete, is the mag is out now? I'd like to pick it up. I'm an advocate of supporting the work of others, especially those here who I'm friendly with. Plus there is just something about seeing images on paper that is better than a monitor.

Hi Joe

he's a flatcoat retriever - dunno if they're common in the states, but you don't see many of them around here.

If you're not familiar, they they're rather more like a red setter than a golden retriever.

kind regards
jono . . . . . about to take blue for a walk . . . . . . . slack
Thanks Jono, I hear your plight. I can't wait until he's big, (and
runs me ragged.)

Beautiful dog you have there, the whispy hair adds excellent
character!

Joe,

I just went and got a dog as well!

My last dog was a Dalmatian and as good as this new one is he's no replacement for my Dalmatian! The Lab is rated as the 7th smartest breed in the world (by the AKC) and the Dalmatian is rated as the 39th smartest (not bad considering there are about 160 breeds)... However, that Dalmatian was easily as smart if not smarter then the Lab I currently own!

One note though, if you want the dog not to be aggressive (Dalmatians are very picky about this) then spend as much time as possible with the dog as I've seen both sides!

Yeah, I forgot about that! My wife left the basement bulkhead open (door for anyone that doesn't know what I'm talking about) and our Laundry was all over the back yard before we could blink and he chewed holes through 2 pairs of my wifes jeans! We learned quick though! ;)

A beautiful dal, and a great shot.I have my dal for 9 years.Do not believe all the horror stories about the tempermeant of dals.mine NEVER destroyed anything in the house, loves kids, sleeps under the covers with us.Enjoy yours as much as we enjoy ours.they are the best dogs in the world.

Nice pup! I love Dalmations - grew up with them. They are actually pretty smart mutts, but very stubborn, which I think earns them their reputation. We had three all at the same time! They LOVE to play and will run you ragged!

Believe the chewing stories! At least during the first year. Came home one day to find a big hole in the living room wall and pink insulation all over the house! They had a ball. Of couse they were all wagging like mad - pretty proud of their accomplishment!

Friend of mine had the entire dashboard pulled loose and chewed up out of his Ford Bronco!

Beautiful Lab Pete. I had a yellow lab growing up who was sadly stolen from us. He was a very smart dog. Best of luck with your new one.

'Patch,' my dal, is extremely attached already to my wife and I. It's very funny to see how he needs to always be touching or laying on or against one of us. We are crate training him with good luck just a few days in. We are making it a priority to be sure he's a very well mannered dog. Thanks.

Jono,

I could swear you have my dog. Mine looks just like yours except he has a tad of white on his chest. We were not looking for a dog, but he found us 8 years ago. One of the best things that has ever happened to our family - a great and loyal friend.

I never had a clue what he was - would have guessed some sort of Spaniel mix. Maybe he has a little retriever in him too.

Dogs and D100s go well together.

Thanks to both of you for the photos.
