I so far, with the FZ150, I have done almost 145.000 photos ... I hope it can last much longer! :-D

Let me know how many has made your camera.

How do I find that information? I know there is a way, but I don't know where it is.

5,935 since around Valentine's Day when it arrived.

You have to look at the number of folders in the memory card, inside the DCIM directory, there is a code that begins with XXX_PANA.

X was the number sequence used folders, each folder can contain up to 1000 pictures, then navigate to the next sequence.

I hope I explained myself, with my bad English ;-)

Here is the way my FZ200 works.

Each folder holds 999 images (1 - 999)

The first folder number was 100

After 999 images are stored, a new folder is created with the file number beginning with 1

A few days ago folder 113 ended and folder 114 started:

1130999

1140001

So I have taken 13,9086 images on this camera (14 x 999).

I just got mine a month ago. Immediately left on a 2 week cruise and took a 32gig card, (plus an 8gig "back-up" in case of failure of 32gig).

BUT ... I completely filled the 32 gig and used almost half of the 8gig. (about 8000 images)

Also just went to Yosemite for 2-days and filled another 8gig and half of another 16gig.

I LOVE this camera, most FUN camera I ever owned. (and can't count the number of cameras I have owned since 1960 when I got my first --- Russian VOKAR)

FZ200 Folder 131

Fz150 Folder 127

Fz 50 Folder 108

I agree with you John! Was asking myself just a technical curiosity

I have a FZ20 with over 170,000 images, a FZ28 with 90,000 +, a FZ150 with more than 110,000 and a FZ200 with around 45,000 on each of their clocks. When I parted with my FZ38, I seem to recall I’d clocked up around 70,000 shutter release actuations, and I know that particular camera is still going strong in the hands of its new owner, who’s chuffed to bits with the great photos it takes. I also have a FS62 with approx 65,000, and a LF-1 with almost 15,000 images notched up.

These days I don’t get out shooting as much I used to; at one stage I was averaging 3,000 to 4,000 images per week compared to around 500 to 1,000 currently.

Through all my experience of using a variety of small sensor Lumix camera, I’ve come to appreciate how durable they are. In most cases I’d say that they’re extremely reliable too.

Cheers and happy snapping to all fellow Panasonic Camera users…

Got some extra digits there, Richard!

Anyway, the approximate number can be calculated from:

Approx. Activations = ((Current folder # minus 100) times 999) + # shots in current folder

However, this is for stills up to 12fps - faster bursts are stored elsewhere.

Shooting using internal memory can also use up an entire folder for just a couple of shots, so the actual may be somewhat less.

The most important issue is not the number of photos taken, but rather how many were keepers.
Of interest, however, is the durability of the camera. For example, the Canon 5D MkIII specifies:

magnesium-alloy body with shutter durability tested up to 150,000 cycles,

I've never seen a durability specification for the "superzoom," so-called, cameras.

Here's how to obtain the "true" shutter count on FZ150, even if somebody has reset the file/folder numbering. It works for the FZ200 too, just the buttons are labelled differently. (It may work on other Panasonic cameras too, but I have only tried it with FZ150 and FZ200).
  1. Turn off
  2. Turn selector to "P" mode.
  3. Hold 2 bottons at the same time: the up (+ - key on donut) and movie record (red key on top), then turn on.
  4. Press 3 keys at same time: left (clock timer symbol on donut) and menu/set (center of donut), and movie record. This will get you into the error history buffer screen.
  5. Repeat step 4 and that will get you into the other screen that shows shutter count (shtcnt) and a few other stats of interest.
Hope that helps.

And by the way, my FZ200 is over 210,000 shots. After 1 year. That's what shooting 12fps bursts all day, at airshows and sports events, week after week, will get you...
