And I totally have to apologize for making everybody wait so long to see it....

Because I'm absolutely convinced, that Canon has been totally waiting for me to get an "old" 7D, before they would announce the MkII.

Anyway, yea', I got the 7D last night, so I'm expecting the announcement for a replacement, to be made sometime in the next week or so :) LOL

Anything less would shock me ! LOL

Did you try my inspection checklist? Or did you buy a new one?

Well, I got a used one, but "not" from a private party. Got it from B&H.

I will still totally go through your entire list here soon, and of course if their are any problems, I will get right on that, while its still under warranty.

Just going by the exterior condition, its flawless.

Thank you for that thorough, informative list.

You're probably right - I just bought an SL1 for a travel camera (the 7D is just a little big/heavy), so if the 7D MKII came out now I would not be willing to spend the money.

I just bought a 500mm lens and my husband will come unglued if I spend any more money on gear. I expect the announcement to come any day now.

we should have an "i like"-option on this forum here.. ;)

I bought a 7D several months ago - wasn't aware of the checklist but it seems fine - and while I expect a 7D II to be released, it's out of my price range anyhow. $800 for a used one was pushing my limited budget. But since I like shooting action I wanted more FPS and a deeper buffer, it's just what I needed and despite not having the best DXo numbers (boo hoo) I am more than pleased.

The 7D is a classic. When I move on to something else, mine will go in my curio cabinet instead of being sold.

I though the same thing when I picked up my 100-400 in 2010 - lol.
Bwahahahahaha

At least you've had 4 great years with a really great lens in the interim!

Thanks for the laugh. :-)

Canon doesn't update as often as some other brands, for better or worse. But a 7D update does seem due by now, especially considering the 70D's specs.

Well, you got everyone's attention.............I hope you're right, though. I sold my 1DmkIV for various reasons, one of which is hoping the 7D2's rumored specs come close to being right......
Canon Rumors

Hopefully Canon will bring out something of interesting soon since Nikon just announced its pro flagship, the D4s

Well, you never know. Moon and mysterious planets control everything.

Could be...

There are some mighty tempting deals on the 7D. I just watched a 7D, nice grip, 4 batteries go for $761 including shipping. Just under 13,000 shutter and from a good seller that has a history up upgrading regularly according to his/her sold feedbacks.

AS much as the 70D is what makes sense for me, if I had the doe in pocket I would of jumped in the last couple minutes. There are some very nice 7D deals out there, excellent value for the money. And treking up a shallow creek would be less worrisome with such a strong beast.

Any day now you'll be able to call it the 7D Classic.

:) LOL

Hey, but you have to admit, Dave, that if ever their were a camera labled a classic "before" Canon actually quit making it, the 7D would be near the top of that list....

Canon released the F1 in 1971 and did not replace it until 1981. They promised pro photographers a ten year product life.

I bought my new 7D last Tuesday evening - having noticed that our local department store had reduced its price to below what some used copies were going for. I'm still getting to know my way round it - easier than my 600D but not as intuitive as my 1D Mk IV! And two weeks ago I bought an Eos M, so I do seem to have acquired 3 18MP Canon sensors recently.

you will have much fun.
