"Resort" to manual with auto-iso? Resort? Resort? That is the best mode that ever happened to digital photography! Can't live without it any more. I refuse to buy any new camera that doesn't have it (MF or View cameras excluded.)
Haha funny! But what do you do on a changeable day when you want pictures of birds in flight and are happy with any shutter speed above 1/500 or 1/1000 but want the ISO as low as possible (and would prefer shutter speed to be as fast as it can be)?

If you make the aperture too small then.it will boost the ISO instead of opening the lens and if you set the it so that it's using a wide aperture you'll get overexposed shots in brighter light.
I think you need to spend more quality time in this mode, and you'll forget about minimum shutter speeds, I think. You've been around long enough to know about what speed you need and what aperture you want. Let auto-iso take it from there.
It's a great way to work for lots of scenarios but it falls over in the one I gave above.

Use face detection to position zoom window for use with manual focus lenses!
+1

Though moving the box around is easy with the two wheels, this would speed up the process quite a bit :)

Howard people seeing an anti shock delay working?

Would this be a delay between the shutter closing and reopening again to record the exposure? If not what are you imagining as I can't see any other way to do it right now.
That seems to be be what has been suggested and it makes a lot of sense. I believe this is how Nikon Leica 240 "classic metering mode" does it. Since the vibration from current "slam shutter closed and immediately open it" is quite high frequence and dies quite fast even a small delay after closing the shutter should do wonders to the vibration although the shutter would still move on open.

I agree on antishock and the bracketing stuff. A few more

- software focus limiter. Now that the E Mount lenses are even visually quite focus distance aware in the EVF/LCD, I'd like to set minimum focus distance per lens to effectively cut "full hunt" time to half or even less. The upcoming 70-200/4 G OSS will have the usual limiter (full or 3 m to inf) on lens barrel for, but it would be quite useful for say SEL 55/1.8 to limit minimum focus distance to 1.5 meters for portrait shooting or street photography

- the already suggested option to "always AF wide open". Having to set Setting Effect off for this takes a lot of usability away especially when not working with artifical light

I believe with 2 above AF would be much better for low light and they should be quite easy to implement when compared to live bulb mode (I'd love one too but see something this big happening) for example. Better Auto-ISO config should be a no-brainer and easy change too.

Most votes go to the control of minimum shutter speed in aperture priority mode. This is an important setting which Sony still doesn't include in any camera.

In addition, some other important fixes:

- OSS of APS-C lenses doesn't seem to work

- AF assist light doesn't work with LAEA4

- Improve operational speed; Slow start up is a problem.

Less important:

- Messages for using JPEG features in RAW, problem exists for a long time already; give the option to use JPEG-only features in WHILE shooting RAW in normal modes, for a much smoother experience. Display a flashing JPEG icon or a RAW>JPEG icon.

- The option of third or half stops has been available in previous Sony cameras; why not provide it in these cameras?

Voted ETTR. Problem with this poll is that there doesn't seem to be that many that actually know what ETTR is and how that improves dynamic range and tonality.

It's a fact. Don't expect firmware updates until Sony figures out that is a big missing part of their picture. I'm one of the Sony users dying to jump ship to Fuji, when they make a product I like, since I love their attitude. If they make a monochrome only camera first, I'm jumping ship.
I got yesterday the information of a Sony Austrian guy that Sony will offer an update within the next days. I hope this will come true because there are really some serious quirks I don´t like with the A7R. To be honest, without the great IQ (if everything is perfect) I already had returned mine. And yes Sony please have an extensive view on Fuji - this kind of firmware politics is what customers await nowadays.

This is a trivial addition to the firmware, Sony: Control Aperture Priority min shutter speed

An average programmer should be able to add it in a couple of hours.

So, make it available now!

What I would like to know is how this automatic ETTR function would work? The camera would expose to right until RAW output for R, G, or B is nearly clipping? From what I've read the headroom is nearly always around 2 stops with these cameras so dial-in +1 2/3 of exposure compensation and you are nearly there?

Then again if you are not touching Aperture or ISO you are using much slower shutter speed and unless shooting static scene on tripod that is not free lunch either. ETTR has its uses but I'm not that sure how one would effectively make it automatic.

Should have put full pixel read out on the sensor for video.

I seem to recall on or two modes that actually do focus wide open--at least on the RX1. Program, maybe?

I would like GPS only if it were self powered. GPS devices really put a hit on the battery, the W is already challenged by this camera. GPS would kill it fast.

Touch screen

MP3

GPS

Faster writing speed

Configurable button in playback mode

Faster AF
Your first three are impossible as a firmware update but possible as a whole new model. I would like a GPS attachment myself

1. Focus Magnifier / Zoom in one button press like NEX. An additional menu option would be to have the option to change the behavior of the one click, where one click can equal any of these 3 user pref. Maximum magnification first, Minimum magnification first or the current style framing mode.

2. Startup times need improved to feel like a pro tool. Currently the camera is inconsistent here. Agreed that major work is needed on power management, start-up/wake-from-sleep times, and lag when changing settings.

3. Buggy system. For example, when ISO is mapped to default wheel location, sometimes it simply does not work when wheel is turned. This is not acceptable, as I’ve had to map a backup button for ISO for when this bug happens. It happens often.

4. Fix the auto sensor so that it doesn't mistake the shirt/belly as an eyeball and switch to the viewfinder...even though one is shooting with the screen. An option to adjust the sensitivity of the back screen in proximity to the body/eye before switching would be nice.

5. Option to completely turn off LCD (not just turn display black

INCLUDING the backlight.)

6. Manual lens data entry, room for at least 10 lenses.
