AF Illuminator with LAEA4

None of the above. I want the camera live view to reflect exposure, white balance, etc.. but the focus to occur wide open. Right now I have to choose between faster focus in low light or a correct live view. Other systems don't have this issue and for a system with less than stellar low light focus the current method is pretty flawed.

Do you mean the existing AF illuminator feature doesn't operate with the LA-EAx adapters?

(I usually turn that feature off first thing on every camera, since it annoys the subject.)

Touch screen

MP3

GPS

Faster writing speed

Configurable button in playback mode

Faster AF

I'd like to be in control of aperture priority min shutter speed for manual lenses. I think only the A7r might need the shutter shock delay as an option since the A7 has EFCS. I get the impression from reading here that Sony doesn't do a lot of firmware updates. That the opinion of others?

Cheers

Ability to magnify for focussing in all focus modes, even AF so that you can see exactly where focus is (like Panasonic) and if you can't do something messages that tell you how to instead of constant wrong ones.

Howard people seeing an anti shock delay working?

Would this be a delay between the shutter closing and reopening again to record the exposure? If not what are you imagining as I can't see any other way to do it right now.

Not firmware --see the hardware poll
Say what? If you mean Mpeg, it supports it
Not firmware --see the hardware poll (though I didn't include that)
Faster writing speed
Possibly not much firmware improvement there either
Configurable button in playback mode
Absolutely
Faster AF
A tweak is always possible, but don't expect miracles.

It's a fact. Don't expect firmware updates until Sony figures out that is a big missing part of their picture. I'm one of the Sony users dying to jump ship to Fuji, when they make a product I like, since I love their attitude. If they make a monochrome only camera first, I'm jumping ship.

I would like a minimum shutter speed setting in auto iso mode!!!

Correct, I turn it off too, but there are times I need it, like shooting a wedding reception.

I would like to see this feature!
ETTR exposure option
Isn't this the auto DR feature?
Save/restore camera settings to/from file
Thats what the custom modes should do.
Customizable menu to reduce clutter, banish irrelevant features
A view mode where I can choose which items are on the screen AND where they are located on screen.
Able to configure dials to use whole stop or 1/2 stop increments
More options are welcome.
Expanded bracketing options simultaneously usable with timer
They moved the remote from the drive mode, should have moved the self timer too.
Antishock delay options
I don't know how effective FW could be with this.
Control Aperture Priority min shutter speed
What I picked, To set min shutter speed and an option to increase the max ISO in auto ISO.
Focus trapping
Sadly Sony would make this feature with AF lenses only.

Also needed:

Image review set up like my NEX-7, center button to zoom in, then turn the dial to zoom in and out.

Option to have the right button next to the EVF to toggle the EVF/LCD. I am really hating the EVF sensor, it's far too sensitive, it turns off the lcd when things are 6" away.

Your first three are impossible as a firmware update but possible as a whole new model. I would like a GPS attachment myself

Agreed..it seems so obvious. The only reason I didn't vote for this one is that you can accomplish this with the IR remote but I would like the option to use the timer to initiate the bracketing drive modes with or without the remote.

I'd like minimum shutter speed settings (perhaps by focal length range, but would be satisfied with a global setting I guess, especially if it can be accessed from the ISO menu) so I don't have to revert to Manual mode with Auto-ISO enabled. It's a subtle but useful difference.

I think DR modes tend to actually underexpose to prevent highlight blowout and rely on latitude to lift the shadows, whereas ETTR would overexpose as much as possible, stopping before highlights actually clip.

Custom modes get you to a configuration quickly. But saving files lets you transfer the configuration to another camera of the same model.

I'd be happy with the ability to banish whole classes of menu items that have no relevance to me. Creative modes? Gone. Jpeg only settings? Bye bye. Flash? What's flash?
Able to configure dials to use whole stop or 1/2 stop increments

This is actually a huge usability problem when shooting in contrasty light on the street. Now I'm pointing at black shadows, now I'm shooting into the sun. I need to swing the aperture from f/2 to f/16 with a quick flick, same with the shutter speed. And yes, I shoot manual mode. Why do I need to futz around with 1/3 stop increments and rotate and rotate the dials for a big swing? That's the main thing in favor of an aperture ring, it's very quick to move the lens from wide open to stopped all the way down.

Close the shutter. Wait a while. Then open the shutter. Even do it every time I use the self timer by default, without providing an option!
Control Aperture Priority min shutter speed

Easiest one to work around. I shoot strictly manual with Auto-ISO, so I effectively have a min and max shutter speed. The one I just set.
Focus trapping
Sadly Sony would make this feature with AF lenses only.
Could be triggered by focus peaking also.

You know the very best way to review images? I would love a review mode that auto zooms each image I took to the focus box I used when taking the image for sharpness confirmation. It would also be good to see a visualization of the contrast achieved as a kind of reliable proxy for critical sharpness, since it would be easier to read than the ambiguous zoomed in LCD images (which seem to look much worse on LCD than they ultimately do in a raw editor). In that mode I rotate through several images each zoomed to the focus area, rather than having to zoom in, zoom out, then switch images, zoom in again, out again, etc.

"Resort" to manual with auto-iso? Resort? Resort? That is the best mode that ever happened to digital photography! Can't live without it any more. I refuse to buy any new camera that doesn't have it (MF or View cameras excluded.)

I think you need to spend more quality time in this mode, and you'll forget about minimum shutter speeds, I think. You've been around long enough to know about what speed you need and what aperture you want. Let auto-iso take it from there.
