Any 1D owners still here hiding between all the 10D posts?

If so, please say "aye!"

For me I used my "silent power" to take challenging pictures of very fast moving subjects today-- my 1year old daughter and 4 year old son.

God I love this camera!

Me too. Took this one from the deck above the shop this morning at low tide. Had to use a 1.4xtc on the 500 4.5 and ISO 800 to get any kind of pic, but that's ok.

Reduced for the web.

Pictures can't do the real thing justice, but you gotta' try.

I took my trusty pal (1D) out for an early morning shoot. I didn't come across any fast moving subjects to put it through it's paces, but DID find this scene around the corner from the house. Wish that danged sailboat wasn't so centered. I'll have to go back and try again!

Tom,

Would love to see/photograph one of those from my deck! Wow! Nice one! Must be frustrating not being able to get closer.

Just shot several hundred finish line photos at the Newport Marathon.

But I'm spending less and less time here as the signal/noise ratio has been going down.

Hi Tom,

1D is taking a break today while the wife keeps me busy doing honey do's...:)

If you haven't heard there is a new site that is for 1D's ONLY!!!

Check it out: http://www.1dforum.co.uk

It is usually the first site I check. Then Rob's, Then Fred's, then finally here.

I also enjoyed 'silent power' thanks for the link.

Take care and enjoy the weekend.

Took a few snaps of a cutie today but I used the S400. Why? Because I had it in my pocket. ;-)

I still love the 1D though. I wish mine would last forever.

I've been lurking as much or more than commenting these days for exactly that reason. Heck, I know of new Hyundai owners that are ectatic about their new cars too.................but jimminey it's getting old here. It's a good thing I'm a bit too busy making money at this stuff to let it get to me. I suppose it will be until they come out with another new model to supercede the 10D to calm these folks down a bit. ;-)

The S100 served as a nice travel camera for non-photographic trips. Hopefully the S400 will too.

... for the 3D craze. That out to be the one that breaks the camels back. The fur will fly when some here pay that much for a camera for the first time and they can still trick it into missing focus by using silly tests. ;-)

Until my 1D fails me in real world shooting I will continue to say that it is absolutely the perfect camera for me, period.

I've been pleasantly surprised by the S400 considering what it is. I still have a hard time believing what it can do sometimes. I took my first "people" shots today and used flash indoors. The exposure was good and absolutely no red eye even though I didn't switch to red eye reduction flash mode.

Another funny thing is that I got a totally relaxed and comfortable reaction from the girl I was shooting as opposed to the reactions I get from people when I point the 1D and big glass at them. I can't see anybody being intimidated by the S400. Judging by the reaction some people have to the 1D and L glass I may as well be pointing a gun at them.

I think the S400 may be a valuable tool for getting someone comfortable with me taking their picture and loosening them up for shooting with the 1D later. I hadn't thought of it that way until I got such a laid back reaction to the S400 today. I could casually shoot a few frames of someone with the S400 and give them a print or two from it and use that to talk them into letting me shoot a session with them using the big stuff. Hmmm... :-)

I've not read too many 10D threads - Been too busy discussing lenses ;-)

BTW that Hyundai crack was rude - if anything (in Vauxhall terms) the 10D is a new Vectra, the 1D an old Carlton and the 1DS a new Omega - the Carlton and Omega are their high end range, just that the carlton is older - for some it was a better car even, but not for most. the Vectra is a lower range vehicle not aimed at the same market..

Oops just posted a 10D comment ;-0
