D600 Autofocus stuck on manual mode

Here is my issue: all my AF-S, AF-D lenses stop focusing with my 4 month old D600 camera.
Before posting any advice I would like to say what I have already tried:

1) check the lenses if they are on AF or M and they are on AF. All the lenses are fine and they focus on my D7000 body
2) check the side switch of the camera to be on AF - the switch is fine, but the button is not functioning - I cannot select AF-A, AF-C or any mode of focusing for that matter.
3) reset the camera settings by pressing the green buttons (nothing changed)
4) re-mount different lenses - nothing
5) take out the battery and put it back
6) different modes Auto, A, M etc

I am at the end of my wits here and I am planning to send camera to Nikon service. If any-one can think of any other way of un-blocking the autofocus from manual it would be great

Do you have any G lenses? I would try one of them to see if the results are same. Sounding like you have a hardware problem on the camera unfortunately.

Based on your description it seems like the camera does not have contact with the lenses. Try to clean the camera contacts.

There are two possibilities. 1. there is no communication between camera and lens by enormous dirty contacts. 2. there is something defective. I think it is 2, maybe the switch of the lens release button.

Do you have information of the aperture in the display?

not that big of a deal. the same thing happened on my D800. i sent it in for warranty service and i had it back, fixed, in a couple of weeks. from what i recall, they had to replace the mount or something -- i don't have the paperwork where i am now. it's a bit of a bummer having to use the D700 instead (not really!), but hey, things happen.

The aperture information is fine. The focusing is totally stuck.

I have a D7000 which I'll use. I have sent the camera to service. Hopefully I will get an answer to the issue soon.

The contacts are very clean. The camera looks like new. I have 8k-9k shots with it. Unfortunately I think it is a hardware problem too.

Send it in for service. Its done be broke and needs a fixin! Its under warranty and you really knew what to do before posting.... ;-)

You even have a second body!
