Muck to like - thanks for dropping by and for posting. A feeling of stillness comes across and maybe the B&W treatment contributes to that.

Fine set, Jay.. really like the vista from top of the Dutchman's Stern(?), lovely countryside with all the gently rolling hills resembling the ocean waves - possibly this is the reason for very nautical name of the place? Well spotted and pictured, thank you for sharing :D ..

A bag full of cool images, Jim.. fine compositions and colors, really love the first shot for "gentle" wildness and impressive honey colors of meadow - good eye, thanks for sharing :D ..

Kind regards,

Rick, thanks! This waterfall is really interesting. It's actually two different falls, and the upper falls come out right over a big open cave-like space. In my photo, you can see where the water then keeps going over the lower falls. The cave area has a path around the edge of it so if you crouch and are careful, you can get a nice high vantage point for a photo.

It was interesting to see all the Hudson River School paintings of this falls from 200 years ago. The scene essentially looks the same, just with some foliage differences and maybe some artistic license.

But artistically, nothing has changed about composition and light in 200 years! So we can still learn from the masters (the ones who came before photography).

Thanks Bruno and everyone else for your nice comments!

I enjoyed your photo Bruno. Nice to see the mountain peaks in the background. You must be having so much more winter fun than we've had this year.

Thank you so much - Karen, kkardster, Rick, Lee, Ted, Michel, Dez, Paul, Bruno and
RedorBlack for your kind comments!

Cheers

Wow, this brings back memories. I grew up in Hudson, across the river from here, and on one of my first photo forays with my then-new Argus SLR, I set out to take pictures of Kaaterskill Falls. Unfortunately I didn't know exactly where it was and ended up at nearby Haines Falls, which is not as interesting. Never did find this one - thanks for showing me what it should have looked like!
