I just arrange a return of my A70 along with CF card to Dell. The CSR told me that I have to pay for shipping it back! What the heck is this! I just bought this camera last week, and all of a sudden the price drop on their website to $299. I told them I'd be happy to keep it if they would credit $50 back to my account, they wouldn't. Now, how do you guys return the item for free of charge? Let me know.

andyisgod,

I ordered an A70 from Dell on Monday of last week and my delivery date is May 28th. Did you order or receive the camera last week. If the former, what's your secret.

BTW, I've returned things to Dell before, and I've always had to pay the return shipping. This seemed reasonable to me--a lot of companies charge a restocking fee. Plus, how much can it cost to return the camera.

Why do you want to return your A70? Prices drop (or increase) all the time. If you are unhappy or dissatisfied with the camera then certainly return it but you should expect to pay the shipping fees.

How can you expect them to eat the camera cost AND shipping both ways? How long do you think companies would stay in business with that practice? They certainly can't sell the camera as new anymore. So they've eaten that chuck of profit.

If your only reason to return is that the price dropped you're being a tad unreasonable.

Phew, I'm glad I don't live in the USA where you seem to be able to return things just because you want to. It can be quite stressful making a decision on exactly which camera (or whatever) to buy but I like the fact that once you've bought it, thats it. Sure, if it's faulty you can return it, but otherwise you've got no choice, so what happens is that you just don't worry any more about your purchase, you just go out and enjoy using it. I could never "settle" with a purchase if there was always the option to return it when something better comes along.
You're a moron, period.
Ben,

You need to reread his posting--it clearly says "andyisgod."

how much did u pay for the camera? if u're like most people who went along w/ the incredible 15% off/$50 stackable coupon, u ended up paying~ 250ish for the camera. that's still an awesome deal.

If you return something because it's defective then the vendor may pay for the shipping; some do, some do not. Typically though, returning something that is not defective is done at the purchaser's expense. So what Dell is asking you to do is reasonable.

PAY UP, if you are returning it just b/c the price drop than thats not good enough for free shipping. Are you trying to close down Dell? Cuz i love them to death! you hear? LOL im j/k

Likely more to the tale ... as Dell is normally good at crediting price drops. I can understand the fustration as digital camera prices are going down at a dramatic pace.

If your returning your camera because of a $50 price drop, and have complaints about $10 in shipping, perhaps digital photography is too expensive for you. Actually, its these types of returns that generate these types of policies for legitimate customers.

Actually he tried to sell the camera and CF on this forum and possibly eBay. Don't know what the real motive is here...just to save a little $$$ or unhappy with camera?

You bought it, it's yours. it's normally better to do the thinking before the purchase , not the other way around.
If it's defective, it's another story. This one clearly isn't.
The price went down, so what. It will go down even more.
If you got a raise in the meantime, would you offer to pay DELL more money?

andy,
I flicked through all the posts. There is not one that supports your position.
Would it not make you think?
