Hi all,

Montmartre district in Paris is considered quite small tourist ... This post was an opportunity for me to test again this Leica M Monochrom ... In very difficult conditions. Once again, sorry for the appearance not very original pictures that follow ... All this is a new experience for me ... I have not the talent ... Gianlu our friend, Prince of the night.
But I still launches ...
Here is the story ....

Thank you again for looking.

1/ I do not hand tonight ... It's really no fun ...

2/ Not win on the piggy bank ...

3/ A little too quiet ... Then I'll show you who has the Rock in it ...
OK youngster ... But not bul..hit with my guitar ...

4/ Do not worry man ... I just put the lights! Listen to this ...

5/ OK ... Here I confess: I did not showy.

It really makes night .. And I'm tired of my long day ...
2 small but for the road ...

It really is a little early for me ... But hopefully grow and make more interesting pictures later ...

I wish you lots of beautiful things ...

Hugues.

Hugues..... thanks , but i'm not the prince of night .... I feel myself more like a wanderer of the dark hours... ;) .... and that's not a talent .... at lesat for me !!!

If i was the prince of night you would have seen me on some Fashion magazines with a Brigitte Bardot girl like.... but no way... of course !!

BTW here i am to you for some comment..... especially for this first one that i like it very much .... very often the pictures we took reveal something of unusual to the viewer....

and for me in this frame the beautiful blonde girl pictured on the right seem to be completely ignored from the folks of the scene.... she was just shining out from those ironic portraits !!! Love this mood-contrast........ and her eye contact.... ;)
2/ Not win on the piggy bank ...
In this one i love the tiny dark man running away between the two musicians.... WOW 10.000 iso..... 1/125 to still them.....
3/ A little too quiet ... Then I'll show you who has the Rock in it ...
OK youngster ... But not bul..hit with my guitar ...
Appreciate the connection of the guys and the interest of the two girls on the background , but for 4000 iso seems to be not a great result from the MM ...Pushed ????

4/ Do not worry man ... I just put the lights! Listen to this ...
This one is full of energy and the MM really come to help to capture the joy of these girls ... especially the one on the left looking outside the frame , love this one !!!!

5/ OK ... Here I confess: I did not showy.
Ok.... then no comment... ;)

Ohh.... here this is you my friend.... it's late and you don't think more nothing about of technical aspects and your eyes did the best..... Wonderful shots this last two !!! They have your mind-firm over them !!! I really love these ones ....

It really is a little early for me ... But hopefully grow and make more interesting pictures later ...
Thanks Hugues... i have really appreciate this outing with the MM , but even more your first two and last two pictures !!!!
I wish you lots of beautiful things ...
Me too for you !!

Hugues, I've just had a terrible shock! The forum style changed just as I was looking at this very enjoyable night-time set. Rome and Paris by night look very attractive indeed, thanks to you and Gianluca.

This will take a bit of getting used to!

Best wishes

Mike

Mike , yes it was a shock.... choose "collapsed mode" to see the forum more close at what we are used.....

Hugues : I see your shot are all at -2/3 compensation...... you choose that setting for highlights ???

Ciao guys, Gianluca

A beautiful set, my friend; but I am not sure if you are getting my message!!!... The whole DPR page is suddenly different and I really hate it!

If you get my message, then accept my best regards, ;)

used to stay at a hotel nearby on my many visits to your town years ago

you caught Parisian nights well with these

I am curious as to your penultimate photograph of the stairs

I am seeing an odd checkerboard artifact that I have never before encountered & wonder if this is some problem with the reproduction, perhaps related to the new forum system

it is a fine series & not withstanding the artifact, the last two are my favorites

thanks for sharing these gorgeous MM treats

Tonton Hugues!

Comment tu vas?

My dear Gianlu !!!

hehehehehe....It was a true and sincere ;-) for You !!!Consider that Itruly like your street 's night shots and your Photograpky in general as ! OF COURSE :-)

First of all, thank You so much for all your written....First this 1 Pic: very glad to see all your analyse

and observation... I have taken my time to compose and framing this one ! SO... Very Happy You liked it ... 8000 isos ! BOUM BOUM :-D CLIC...
2/ Not win on the piggy bank ...
In this one i love the tiny dark man running away between the two musicians.... WOW 10.000 iso..... 1/125 to still them.....
YEP ! Someone here said to me before... : He prefer to stay with his 400 isos and colors film...

I respect of course... But trust me ! Shooting at thta isos with a M is a revoultion for me and open a new way for sure... At base isos, This MM is just outstanding as well ! Even in daylight at 3200 it could be amayzing...
3/ A little too quiet ... Then I'll show you who has the Rock in it ...
OK youngster ... But not bul..hit with my guitar ...

Another very good observation... In fact the very harsh light in the background is the matter here...

And I have pushed for about 2 stops after in Post Production... Like if I had shooted at 8000...

And don't forget it is a JPEG compression proposotion... The Tiff is exellent !

4/ Do not worry man ... I just put the lights! Listen to this ...

I love it as well... It was very hard to focus here ! I was near the Dark and they moved too much.

I was at F2 with my 50 Cron... And 10000... ;-)

5/ OK ... Here I confess: I did not showy.
Ok.... then no comment... ;
LOL ! ;-)

Thank You so much Gianlu !!!

Because it is of course what I truly love to shoot... And create a bite of my inside univers...

A bit of my Soul I guess....

It really is a little early for me ... But hopefully grow and make more interesting pictures later ...

Very dear Mike,

It was the same for me this morning !!! We have to do with this new style...

I am not very happy ! :-( BUT Hey !!! Have we got the choice ?

Also, I found the IQ of my Pictures so ugly !!!! I am very sad :-(

BTW, Many thanks for your very kind reply Mike !

Hoping all is doing very well for You .

Your Friend.

Hugues.

Hugues, I wrote to you on my thread that I loved this wonderful series but thought it only polite that I reply here and now that these are wonderful. 10000 iso on a Leica! Yeah baby :) But look what you have created on those dark streets. Fantastic. Keep it up.

Best, Mark

Hello Dear Mike!

I was shocked this morning .... I find especially a great degradation of the quality of photos posted ...
Shame!
Well, we'll deal with it. But this is not the time for joy ...
This will not matter!
Thank you again for your message, hoping that the images you are pleased ...

Soon.

Hey Mon Tibor !!!

Hi again dear Mark !!!

You are very kind ! And your words are truly encouraging ! Thanks again dear Friend .

All the Best.

Hugues.

I love the last two shots, Hugues. You have captured the mood and atmosphere of Mon Martre brilliantly. The Leica MM is certainly in capable hands. I look forward to seeing more shots.

I am interested to know whether you will still retain your M9 or shoot exclusively with the MM from now on? What a dilemma to have to face. :)

Dear Calvin,

I am very glad to hear from You !!!! Long time.... now for me ... ;-)

Thank You for stoping by here and for your comment very much appreciated !

AaaahhhrrrG !!! Good question... Well, to be honest, I test my new toy, and since I have this new Monochrom, I have not putted my hand on the M9... But I am still love it, and it will be the perfect combo for me... Of course, if the new M has a IQ that I could enjoy... Well ! You understand me !

I really want to have 2 camera... And stay with only 3 lenses...

BTW, it is my matter after all ;-) And a grand dilemma for sure !!! ;-)

Hoping You are very well my Friend.

Hugues.

Gotta love the 10k ISO. Looks beautiful. What is that squares pattern in the second bottom image of the stairs? From the sensor?

Hughes,
I notice you used a Summicron for these - but don't you also have a Noctilux 0.95?

I love your photos!

Hello Robert,

firstly, Thank You very much for stoping by here and for your very encouraging words !

Very glad to read You " Love " my Photos... :-D

after, You are right... I have the Noctilux 0,95, and hope to test the beast very soon by night !!!

I think that the combo will do some mervelous things... Now, the gear is nothing if You don't have the right hand on... I say this... Only because I hope to be at the level...

Thanks again for your feedback Robert .

Best.
