Show us your birds!

This can't compete. Chickens are so compliant. They stand still and
aren't afraid of people--at least these weren't! They ARE still
birds though, aren't they?
I'll have to check out your gallery--haven't visited in awhile. But--when you said you were shooting chickens all I could remember was Jono's (Slack--a Nikonian now) wonderful chicken images.

I've always liked chickens---and I have a friend from my 'farming' days that still orders day old chicks every year--and loves the surprises she gets when she orders her 'exotics'. I'll have to go over and capture some of them when they start to sprout their topknots and fancy markings/colors this year.

I tried to remember bird photos (though I am a great bird lover/watcher--I rarely shoot birds LOL).

Here are a couple from the past

29 lbs. of Canon stuff in a backpack that I carry everywhere. A closet full of things that are banned in Britain. A minivan and a Fender Stratocaster. A three bedroom ranch with three owls on an acre. An aversion to rumours. Also, absolutely no Canon 1200mm f/5.6. Yet.

I have a gallery of bird photos at
http://www.pbase.com/garrettlau/birds

This is my first attempt at wildlife photography, but if you like pictures of birds in flight, you might enjoy it. I mainly concentrated on egrets and terns, but I have a few photos of other birds, including pelicans.

wolfwatcher,

Although I didn't use that technique in any of these shots, I do often use a groundpod to get low, especially for shorebirds. In fact, shooting shorebirds and getting dirty is probably my favorite kind of photography!

This is absolutely the best bird shot I've ever seen! Excellent work!
I could not agree more. Excellent shot(s). Arthur Morris uses a
ground pod and lays on the ground to get eye level shots of shore
birds. Was this your technique as well? Thanks, Chris.

Sorry for the cr@p earlier. I signed up with pbase so I am going to try to post now. Thanks for the motivation. You guys probably won't like this picture, but it's my son's first digital pictures.
