I thinki I finally did it....

Spot metering
f7
1/2 second exposure
macro mode
Black Foam Core Board background
Table top tripod
Self Timer - (pain in the butt with the 4500)

I tried many combinations before I got lucky. I had a problem
focusing too sometimes. But would half-press the shutter to see if
the camera would focus properly.

Good Luck
Its perfect !! congrats!! witch camera did you use?? i got trouble
focus the 4500 ,can you expain to me slowly how you did it?? thanks

Thanks !!!!!!!!!! i think your pictures is the one of the nicese ones i seen !!!!

I live in Portland,Oregon. does that explain it? Portland is
famous for lots of rain and it's been pretty grey around here
lately.

The flower was on a table by a big window, all natural Portland
light :-)

See above, Frank's tweaks. He brought out the whites beautifully.

I made now a critical comparison between the various versions, and shall say Frank's one is better than mine. I actually went too further with stretching the tones in PS, and some parts of the flower are blown out (RGB 255, 255, 255, as I see now). The problem was I used my workplace PC, where monitor brightness is intentionally set low for reading texts without burning out my poor eyes!

We had pretty good weather here yesterday (the Angel's Monday) after a very rainy Holy Week. So I went out for a few pics ... You'll see soon!

Hi Rapick, it's a wonder any of us see the same picture what with all our different monitors :)

Hope to see what you've been shooting soon.

JP, love the hi-key daffy's best. Beauty. So now tell me, what
does Hi-Key mean? :-)
Boy, do I have a lot to learn, eh?
Hi ! High-key is used whrn the whole of the photo is taken (or post-processed), with very clear/light colors... Low-Key is of course the contrary (the whole thing very dark, but still with visible details...).

...due to my not-so-precise/good english, I guess you'll better ask someone of english mothertongue and knowledge of that... I think Jarrell said something or gave an explanation sometimes ago... Ask him...

capture a decent FCB flower. My last Daffy attempt was pretty
miserable. I don't know how you guys do it. I thought it wouldn't
be all that hard, but it was. Especially getting those whites
right. No processing here except resizing (which I diminishes the
quality a bit - again, how do you guys do it)

Any comments would be greatly appreciated. f7 .67sec spot
metering. I used Aperture mode.

A very nice shot!

Hi Midnight,

What a NICE Daffy. This is one of my favorites varieties.

You mentioned that you used no post processing. I'm no expert but I've had some luck on flower fcb shots by adjusting the saturation and contrast. The PSP "auto" functions are an EASY and quick way to add some "pop" to your fcb pics. You might give it a try.

I will give that a try Steve. I was so excited to finally get a shot that I posted it without any PS experimentation. You folks really help me to SEE!
