What was your first camera? SLR or DC and what was it?

Were not alltogether bad cameras. One could get Carl Zeiss lens on them. They were pretty reliable. I bet yours still works...

Then a Sony DSCS70,
Then a Sony F707,
Then a ??????

D.
I was talking with several in a group today. We were talking aoout
photography and everyone seemed to enjoy discussing which was our
very first camera owned. Two had never owned an SLR a few told me
their first camera was a Poloroid Swinger. lol

So, please take a moment and, let us all know what was your first
camera, an SLR or Digicam?

And, which camera model was it.... if you can remember?

Last, if you've had several cameras.... which was your favorite?

It will be interesting to know.

Thank you,
Mark J.

My father in law's survived in fairly nice shape and in good working order to this day. I'm not sure of the model though.

I would deffinitely like a D100 instead better... hehehe. I would not have any problems getting over MOST things in that situation :-).

Peace!

My first camera was a black body PentaxMX camera that I bought at a Pawn Shop for $25.0 about 20 years ago that I still own. I'm not sure if it wors or not anymore but it did really take good pictures. Now I am the proud ownder of a Sony 717.

My first was a Hanimex 110 - used it while I was in the army reserve - My first camera for serious photos was a second hand Ricoh KR10 - which was replaced by a new KR 5
today the KR 5 gathers dust while the 707 gets thrashed!!!!

Hi Mark,

Well it was a Asahi Pentax Spotmatic, before that I had a 6x6 Yashica and several others but don't remember their names, nothing special. After the Pentax (2) I changed to the Nikon platform and buyed the first Nikon F (black), oh boy that costs a lot of money at the time and then had several other Nikons. Still have my F and a 801 but they take dust now. About digital ones I had a lot, several Olympus, a few other brands but can't remember, and then the smaller Fuji's. Then I changed to the Fuji S1 and now I have 2 Fuji S2's and I love them.

With very kind regards,

Dirk

Maybe this is a silly question but,

why do you have two Fuji S2's ?

Hi Mark,

No not at all, there are many reasons. I was thinking on buying a second for some time and then one day my S2 felt on the ground on his back with the weight of the tripod and the 80-200 AF-S added and crack it was broken. As I'm obsessed by making pictures I mailed that evening to the shop to ask if they had one in stock to reserve it for me, I couldn't wait on the repair if it could be rapaired. And for a bit more of 1000 Euro it was repaired two weeks later. Now the reasons: first is that I like to make snapshots but I miss regularly good ones because I don't have the right lens on my camera and no time for changing, second one is that I don't like to change lenses the whole day because there is coming much dust on my ccd and also because on the street it's risky every time to change lenses and some do cost as much as the camera and dropping them would be a disaster. And the last reason because I need the camera very regularly for taking pictures for work that I have to do for my clients (I'm working as selfemployed graphic designer), and mostly they are very urgent and they need them the same day or the next day. As I have more and more photographic work to do I would die if there was coming Error on my LCD screen and it wouldn't go away and I couldn't shoot, so now I feel secure with 2 of them.

Hé Marc and this is a great thread that you launched, so great that Phil is stopping it here, my felicitations. All the very best.
With very kind regards,

Dirk
