Firmware Update for 7D..I have NO need for it. I only use between 5 & 7 fps, I don't need more because I ain't got a fast enough lens to get quick focus. will never be able to afford a 2.8 300mm or a f4 500mm. I do not want my 7D to manipulate RAW in camera, that's absurd.. My 400 f5.6 is slow. Can not even use a 1.4 converter with it on my 7D. Now a 8D that will let us do that with less noise would be Brilliant.
Am I asking for the World ?
Cash cows is what we are for Canon.

65 today and retired and I can't even afford me Gas Bill in 2012. Rediculus in it.

If you can't afford to pay your gas bill, I think you have bigger things to worry about than whether Canon gives you the exact camera equipment you want. LOL. But keep shaking your cane angrily at them if you like.

I've met Mr Scary and we shared a breakfast in Swansea a few years back. A nicer fellow you could not wish to meet.

I'd have to agree Canon does seem a bit off the boil of late, they got outmanoeuvred with the D600, the 6d is too high price wise (so is the D600 being honest)

And yes the 7d is due for an update.

But I'm sure Scary likes his 7d more than he did his A700 which was a good camera, but never developed to the degree it should have been.

I think his points are valid.

You have CF cards so you won't be purchasing a camera that uses SD cards....lol...good one, where'd you come up with that joke?

If you have money to spend $2500 or so on a photographic camera purchase (with taxes and misc. items) you can certainly afford $30 for a memory card! This excuse is hilarious when people say they won't buy a camera because it doesn't take the memory cards they have! I have 2 2GB memory cards I bought with my camera 6 years ago and have no needed more than that. I don't spray and pray I don't take 100s of photos whenever I use my camera. I use my skill and experience to know when not to take a photo I'll just delete after downloading the images.

If you use Lightroom it will do a great job removing noise it finds. I suggest you get that and enjoy.

Every company is, especially apple. Just look at how pathetic the iphone 5 is with such little innovation and actual upgrades. In fact if you upgrade even your older iphone to the ios 6 operating system you lose google services such as Google Maps and YouTube because apple cut off google. Yeah, newer is always better, LOL!

well, that is the sort of update the whining old one is complaining about; you should be happy for him that he does not have to complain about a 7d2 he can't afford because of the recesssion in Blighty. What else is new?

HERE'S WHY:

1). Perfectly compact one camera, one lens combo (24-105L) for what I do.
2). Instant backup in the field via wi-fi without additional accessaries.

3). Instant distribution of images in the field to social networks, etc. with a phone app.
4). 100% compatibility with my 24-105L lens and other accessaries already owned.
5). Controls are just like on my 60D, so there's nothing new to learn.
6). 2 stops of usable high ISO sensitivity advantage over the competition.

If I come across as a Cranky Old Gitt, that's fine, I'm cranky because the UK government and Greedy companys have made me cranky..I'm cranky because you lot have too much cash and I not. I cranky because I must tighten my belt lots more than others have to. I not the only one either..

But honestly folks..If one has quite a few CF cards, why should one have to buy a different card and have a smaller size card that is easier to lose....A manufacturer has just made a BIGGER & FASTER CF card, so no need for Canon to put out a camera with a different card in, especially if they want folks like me to upgrade..

I have so much gadgets here that still work but are NO good now, because DSLRs have more megapixels than Amazon has gadgets. etc etc.

It would just be nice if Canon came out with a DSLR that appeals to 95% of photogs instead of the 20%. I could then strive to save up for it.

As for Noise, I use DeNoise, but bdo find photoshops noise reduction to be pretty good. But why should we have to use it at ISO400 in this day and age of Great Technoligy.

I LOVE my Canon 7D---Read that last bit...I LOVE my 7D. Far Far Better than my Sony A700 was. I LOVE my 50D as well. Know how I could afford them....I don't go on Hollidays, I don't go to Pub, I don't smoke any more, WHY! because I can't afford either of them so I spend it on my Hobby provided the Council don't rip me off with higher Bills, Gas/Electric company Rip us off as it is.

Scary I would be quite sure Canon will have a new 7d for next year. You could sell off the 7d you have to help purchase that.

I know photography can get expensive..or just use the 7d a lot of folks would be very happy with that camera even if the high ISO isn't the best.
