Rockwell loves his day old D3200

Can u send me the linkage to his article, as i like what he writes.
thanks.
Are you really so lazy you can't Google Ken Rockwell's site for yourself? You really want someone else to go there for you, and then create a link back here for you? In the time it took to post your request, you could have been there!

And then we wonder why people refuse to read their manuals....

And his omniscience is unparalleled!

Ken Rockwell is a valuable source of third-party information. If you read only his opinion, and base your purchase on only that, then find you goofed and you regret the decision, that is on you.

I don't even give Thom Hogan that much power over my purchases, and he is considered a God on this forum, as Ken is considered a quack. It is a badge of honor here to bash Ken.

Read multiple opinions, think about what you want, then decide for yourself what best meets your expected desires. This is why I have ended up with several different cameras, because I've refined what is important to me in various situations. No camera or accessory is perfect for all people or circumstances.

If you are not in a position to purchase several cameras, either financially or just on principle, then you will need to be even more discerning as to what will BEST meet your needs, understanding that it won't be perfect.

To completely dismiss a knowledgeable man's opinion, because you relied on it for one purchase that you later decided was not for you, is kinda like saying if you get one kinda tough steak at a top notch restaurant, you will never order anything else there. You will really be limiting your knowledge base/dinner choices.

Actually i agree with everything that you say.

Ive been on Dp forum for over 8 years....
Its quite funny at times.

You have to treat it like a spoilt child.
lol

I agree with you and tabloid. And frankly, as a good way to get some basic grounding in anything nikon, I found Rockwell to be a very good place to start. I wanted, for example, some basic facts about the nikon 50mm f1.2 old lens and Ken came through. He is much more generally helpful that Hogan or many others who tend to have deep but narrower opinions.

That being said, anyone that bases a decision on one source is likely to make more mistakes. This is the information age, people just gotta learn how to effectively jump into the sea of information and swim! (Or sink.)

Correct.
I once bought a new SLR, and was a bit confused how to set it up.

I read what Ken recommended, and followed his instructions ......and it was all done for me.

No complaints.

Im looking at the new Tamron 24-70 f2.8 VC (VR) FF.

So I've read a few things about it here and there, and came to the conclusion that it might be just what I'm looking for to put on my little D3200.

Cheers

This is really very Zen :) Love it :)

One day long ago, a sorcerer and a warrior did battle, as such things were commonplace in that age. Sometimes the sorcerer won, and the sum value of human abilities was improved some trifling amount. Sometimes the warrior won, and again the human race improved by some insignificant amount, for a sorcerer who can't defeat one miserable warrior is a poor sorcerer indeed.

I only post up stuff like 'cause I enjoy picturing the KR haters' veins bulging in their foreheads at the mere mention of his name.

You must be really unhappy with that lens jimbo68. I bet not! I have one and it's marvelous. I did take note of Ken Rockwell's advice when choosing that lens along with other reviews. I take all advice with a grain of salt and make my own mind up, based on my requirements. I suppose Nikon only made that lens in order to take advantage of ignorant amateurs like myself, and to give Ken something to recommend of course. Poor Ken must lose a lot of sleep over the hate directed towards him from this forum.

I honestly don't get it. If anyone else took less than a day to do a write up of a camera people would be wary, and rightly so. Ken does it and people defend him even putting down others for questioning it. (When I was more active here, there was one bloke here that would constantly hound me in every thread because I dared be critical of the guy).

Critical thinking goes out the window. I'd put him up there with the late Steve Jobs for the reality distortion field. If a person is willing to take on board that kind of advice, or can't see what harm it could do, they deserve what comes their way. Which in this case is never reaching their potential as a photographer because they lazily set their camera settings according to the advice on his page, turned off RAW shooting, and bought a bottom end Nikon with an SB-400 flash, and went about their business shooting bad hypersaturated junk.

Sammy.

My forum postings reflect my own opinions and not those of my employer. I'm not employed in the photo business.

I'm not naive enough to decide whether I like any author just because I read a book of theirs once.

As for the stuff on Ken Rockwell's site, the advice to new starters on making a good image is some of the best on the internet... Stop analysing and start seeing... Stop the science and feel the art. I like that very much, even if I take the rest with a pinch of salt.

Undoubtedly, though, Ken Rockwell is a more important figure in world photography than I am. I don't have a website, and I don't get a million hits or more on everything I write.
