I realize I never properly introduced myself..

Hi Marla! Welcome to the board and thank you for being a positive force! You have a lovely daughter! Such wonderful personality and great job on the photographic side of things. I like the bright, clean style you have chosen. It goes well with the tones you and your daughter are endowed with.

Looking forward to more posts!

Thank you for the very kind words ! I truly enjoy photography over arguing about gear, and I try to be open minded. I've been a member here since 2001 and have learned 90% of what I can do now on these boards. Forum can be cool places !

Nice to meet you Vlad

Tedolf, I've seen this picture a number of times and I've been meaning to ask you, which one are you? The one on the left? Or the one on the right?:)
both!

OK you got me

Now if Peter Nelson is a decorated artist who predicted what Marla looked like just from her posts, then I would be an Engineer and I will say that's exactly how I predicted you would look like.

Humanity is so fortunate for its diversity of talent else we'd be in bad shape.

It's always nice when a new and pleasant person jumps into the forum, introduction or not. Yours is one of the names I make the effort to follow when I see it pop up in the threads.

Nice model, too. Very lifelike. ;)

working as intended

Vlad what a coincidence, I'm an avid rider myself !!

I have a 4yr old mare that is way more complex to master than any pro DSLR, lol... Great looking horse you've got here, what breed ?
Hi Marla.

Actually I am not sure what this breed is. Possibly Lusitano. It was at a friend's ranch in Mexico, and I only spent a few hours there. I have a 6 year old Hanoverian gelding, and a 50% stake in a 10 y.o. Percheron mare.

I used to ride a lot (hunting/show jumping), now only have time for petting them. The Hanoverian is still being trained (they are very slow to learn), and the Percheron teaches children.

Hi Bob, good to see you here! ;)

I check this forum and Sony Nex forum from time to time. I have to replace my portable camera and I am looking for something as small as my DL5 but with larger sensor. 5n looks great with all the features it offers, but I don't like the built and there isn't any zoom that would still keep it "Pocketable"!... GX1 looks interesting with 14-42x zoom, but I am not sure how easy it is to focus with that magnefier feature if I use my manual lenses!...

So, I am just checking and waiting for anything new that would appeal to me! ;)

Take care,

Narla, good idea. I did the same with my chidren.
See below for more comments.
Incredable, you look exactly like you sound in your posts. I'm not kidding. Perhaps this is just me. I was a portrait painter for many years and I have a certain feeling about how people look and behave. I'm not sure I could prove this in any scientific tests. It's just a feeling. But I am telling the truth, that you look exactly like I thought you would.
BTW I can see that your model is enjoying your photography as much as you are!

hmm.. that's interesting. You must indeed have a real artist eye and insight to be able to form a reliable mental picture from somebody's writing and photography.
I don't think it's a reliable feeling, it just happened with you. Probably not repeatable. Unlikely as it seems but perhaps I have seen your photograph before and it was just an association that I made.
Regarding my daughter she's had her own little digital cam since her second birthday and I faithfully keep her baby pictures (well, the small proportion that looks more or less like something !) for her to enjoy later. Anyway she's totally at ease either in front or behind a camera and that makes me pretty happy. I wouldn't mind if she developped that hobby later on.
It's good that she's interested in photography. She's lucky to have a mom like you. I was lucky too, as my grandmother purhased me a Kodak Brownie for my 4th or 5th birthday back in 1954-55. I used that camera up untill around 1965. So having a camera of your own is very good for developement in photography.
