Show Your Snaps...March 12, 2012

Here's some cormorants I saw on the Willamette River in Portland, Oregon a few weeks ago. I believe I showed this picture previously with a collection of other photos.

Canon T2i (550D), 55-250mm IS lens, ISO100, F9, 1/250, 154mm FL

A couple from this past weekend... All with a T3i and 15-85 IS USM lens

First, on the Upper West Side, Manhattan - two Art Deco towers peeking between two modern towers - near Central Park West

1/640sec; f/5.0; 57mm; ISO 100;

Still on the Upper West Side - Belvedere Castle in Central Park

1/250 sec; f/9.0 ; 27mm ISO 100

West Village, Manhattan along the Hudson River - FDNY Fireboat escorting the Norwegian Gem as she sails down towards the ocean

1/400sec; f/10; 50mm; ISO 100

Finally, from the Lower East Side, Manhattan, signs of spring at Seward Park

1/500 sec; f/5.0; 57mm; ISO 100

Nice to see what's in other places. Particularly like this shot below. The wide sky (some would want it cropped) IMO contributes to the image. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, I've seen this bf...but nice to see it again...you got them in their natural habitat. :)

Sailors have more fun!

Yeah, that is a typical venezuelan fishing boat. We call them "Peñeros".

Moving back? Hmm, I don't think so. There is nothing for us there right now. My kids are safer, we have access to quality education, there is no food shortage in Panama, no electric outages every day, my kids can walk to Mc Donalds five blocks down the street from home, and return home safe and sound, I can opt for a low rate long term loan in any bank, supermarkets are full of food of any kind and variety. Not like back there, only one type and make of oil, flour, milk, sugar, cofee, etc. And the amount they assign to you.

So, the short answer is no. We have no plans or intentions of going back. In fact, we are thinking about becoming Panamanians.

I'm home sick, because is never easy to get out of your country to a new one, even if they speak the same language, but everything is different. We have not too many friends yet, I miss hanging out with my buddies, etc. That kind of sick.
It's nice to see your old pictures. I like the first one the best, showing the boat and the people. Is that a fishing boat? It looks pretty long. Since you are homesick, do you think you'll ever move back to Venezuela?

Thank for both your comments. I've been trying to improve my lighting technique. In this shot I bounced the flash off the ceiling.
Nice job, LeRoy!

When you get down to the nuts and bolts of photography, the results depend on the 'nut' behind the camera!

See the 'Gear List' in my 'Profile' for my current equipment.

Beautiful shot, Joshua!
This was shot through metal cage fence, so image was not the best but I like its pose very much.

Those are nice & sharp...what we would expect from the Canon T3i and that lens. It's great to see the tree blooms. We are starting to get a few of them also in Oregon.

Thanks. You did it right...it just posts it in a different spot because of the time frame.

The chipmunks are much smaller usually than the squirrels (that we have around here) and they have stripes on their body. They are about the size of a large rat or maybe just a little bit larger than a hand.

I saw a photo of this ship recently. I like this one also...amazing to see all the sailors outside on the deck.

It is good. I don't often find these yellow birds in Oregon. But when I do, they are sure nice to have...so pretty. That's a nice high ISO image.
