I see the new EOS 5D MkIII has ISOs from 50 to 102,800. That ought to satisfy everyone from Louis to the most rabid cat-in-a-coal-bin, if I can't shoot in complete darkness the camera's no good crowd.

Oh, and it does 1080P at 24, 25 and 30 fps, too.

Yep, my GH2, which has been taking perfectly good photos, in now obsolete. :| ;)

Bokeh is the aesthetic quality of the blur in out-of-focus areas of an image, or the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light. Bokeh is not the same as depth of field (DOF).

And people thought the OM-D was overpriced ;) Seriously though, the 5D Mark III looks great and makes sense if you make your living as a wedding photographer. For the rest of us, m43 is a great place to be!

I used to be a Canon nut, but once my preordered OM-D arrives next month I'll probably sell off my Canon gear.

You bring up a good point. Too many people evaluate cameras based on how well they work in practice and how well they fulfill a particular photographer's needs.

Fortunately threads such as this one, and especially some brave E-M5 threads on this board, evaluate cameras based on specs, press releases, photographs taken under unknown conditions, and other objective criteria.

We can only hope the tide is turning.

there are some very good posters on this board, unfortunately it seems like the most vocal are the type that feels if you cannot get a pocketable version of the hubble telescope then the camera sucks too much to be used for anything more than a paperweight.

I vever buy evolutionary models.
Probably, I'll have to wait for something like FOS-5D-Mark VFD

I’m surprised how much Wikipedia contributes to the forum.

. . . No need for some rigorous testing by the review sites before hyping a new camera?

I'm glad to see there are still some folks here with a sense of humor. (But maybe not Tim.) I half expected to get bombarded with scathing posts saying one or more of the following:

The 5D is too big
Canon lenses are too big
No one needs ISO that high / low
No one needs that many megapixels
It doesn't have enough megapixels
It doesn't have IBIS
Why does it have a mode dial? I hate mode dials.
Why doesn't it have a pop-up flash?
Oly did radio slave flashes first
OVFs suck
Canons suck
You suck

(All of which are probably true) ;)

. . . It's a shame that my sense of humor doesn't work for everyone. Maybe Wiggers could help out with some garden photos.

Bob the images are blahhhhhhhh, have you checked them and the 5d is a big mother.

So does gh2 and better, with the hack we can intra or not, and play with the bitsas we like.

Its your choice but I think you'll be dissapointed that sensor looks bad I'd go nikon d800 if I wanted ff and all the whistles, but neither will be that good with video, aliasing and moirie seem to plague these cams, unless your a pro what do you gain, nada.

You're great.

You forgot its too expensive.

I use Nikon D3, D700, etc. bodies for work, but for personal shooting my E-PM1 is the best thing since slice bread! People ask if the pictures I've printed are from my Nikons and when I tell them no and show them my little E-PM1, they're blown away. I also have an OM-D on pre-order and that camera should be awesome! I wish Olympus would create a viable 4/3 to M4/3 solution as I'd love to migrate some of my lenses to M43.

I mean, the EM5 was extensively tested in final form before the hype started, right?

Oh, the 5DIII looks very nice, but I really have no desire to run out and get one, even if the price wasn't so high. It's the Next Iteration of The Same Old Thing.

Meanwhile, I await my ever-so-unhyped EM5. It's a new, fresh approach, or maybe it's the Next Iteration of the Next Big Thing. Going to be fun discovering this new world, and seeing what it does well.

And, to tell the truth, I never warmed up to the Canon blob of jello styling, I'm rather fond of the EM5's crisp lines. That has nothing to do with image quality or capability, and it shouldn't matter. But it does.

But does it have a Hump?

I agree.

Its interesting though because - like the EM-5 - in pictures, the 5dIII looks quite large. I am sure its just an optical illusion.

GH2 outperforms 5dmk2 in lr4 AFIC see.(5dmk2 in lr3 that is) I havent downloaded raw 5d file, but k5 has gone backwards.
