5D Mark 4 vs. elephant in the room (D800) What do you all hope for?

Sorry but I have a suspicion that even if a mountain of evidence was presented, you wouldn't be able to "see it". Regardless, there will be a plethora of reviews coming soon enough. Bragging rights will be determined at that time. :)

Now that the rumored 5D III is about to be announced, those who will pass on this version, what do you hope for in the 5D Mark 4?

Canon killed off/ is about to kill off the 1D IV to the 1D X Canon due to NIkon's FF action cameras. I feel Canon will do the same thing with the 5D III, due to Nikon's elephant in the room (D800).

The 5D III will have a short life IMO I hope the 5D IV will surpass the D800.

Time will tell.
No, IQ trumps all. Can you prove that the D800 will better the 5D III in IQ? If you can, please do so.

if the Nikon D800 weren't priced at $3k then maybe people wouldn't be so upset about the $500 over the Nikon for a camera that, on paper, looks like an inferior product.
Believe it or not there is genuine dissatisfaction with the offerings of the 5D III.

What do you think Canon may due to satisfy the DEMAND for a high MP camera?

Whats next a 1D Xs 36mp pro studio camera at $8000? With the D800 I don't think so!
I would like to know the true balance on the MP issue. Just from a rough guess from the posts I've read on here any other furums, at least 50% of folks wanted more MP. Only sales figures over the next couple years will give a true indication. But it sure sounds like Canon will miss the boat if they have ignored MP count.

I don't think so. D800 and 5DIII are two very different cameras. One will be the king of detail and the other one the king of low light. I see them as complementary, for those who can afford to maintain 2 systems. 2 different needs.
ISO numbers don't mean much until proper tests are done. They can assign any bunch of numbers to a dial.

Just like 5Dmk2 vs. D700 comparisons where 21mp files scaled down to 12mp brought them very close, 36mp files scaled down to 22mp (or printed at the same size) will tell the story – not 100% crops. Read noise will determine how hard we can push the exposure and shadows processing those raw files.

Finally, for high ISO to be effective you need to be able to focus in the low-light situations where you need it. They're claiming the D800 can focus in EV -2 like the D4. Will the 5D mk3 achieve this?

It looks like a really solid update, especially in the AF department, but let's wait for samples before getting carried away with titles like the 'king of low light', etc.

The pricing is part of the overal problem for sure. It's just too little, too late, for too much.
