--I'm trying to decide between a used D30 and a new D60. I'm pretty
sure the D30 is all the camera I need (8x10 prints) and the D60 may

camera with no warranty and no recourse. Can anyone quell my fear
with some positive stories? Am I correct that there is no

Cost me $187 for a new mounted shutter, so I now own a perfectly
working D30 and payed $487 for it.
Get the used one.

And how did you see that the flash sync didnt work?? Was it all of
a sudden, no flash anymore?
Mine constantly underexposes for about a stop. But it could well be
the canon "feature" that many of us encounter.
And when used with flash 420ex, i get mixed results, but i am not
alone here neither... Seems to work like a spotmetered combination

Thanks for the input. No one answered my second question, however,
which was whether there is discernable difference in 8x10 prints
between the D30 and the D60. If there isn't, it might not be worth
it to spend the extra cash for the D60. After all, I'm upgrading
from a Pro90, so the responsiveness of the D30 will most likely be
enough to keep me smiling.

You are quite correct, you should NOT see a difference in an 8 x 10
print from the D30 vs the D60.
BTW, I just got a D60 and am thinking of selling my D30 It is in
excellent shape, was fairly lightly used. If interested, please e

As the shutter ages it will take longer to open and shut so the flash will go off before the shutter opens. You'll start seeing the flash in the viewfinder instead of in your pictures.Michael,

flash will go off before the shutter opens. You'll start seeing the
flash in the viewfinder instead of in your pictures.
