Flying with the M9 (four images)

Outstanding! Was it from the Kenmore air seaplane? I'm guessing yes due to the angles you were able to get. Love that flight.

Believe it or not, Alaska Airlines turbo prop! Seattle to Vancouver, so we never got very high. Pretty lucky really. I had the engine right outside my window. And I'm shooting through both glass and plastic. Go Leica!

Just found these and nearly missed them. They are excellent!!! The last one you have every right to be proud of, a photograph to be enlarged framed and hung in a prominent position.

Great work, Bob.

Do you think that you could have taken these with any other camera, or is there something about the M9 that makes them special?

Francis that is a good question. Since I was on a small turboprop plane, I doubt I would have had my Canon gear in hand. Even if I did, just being able to maneuver in such a small place with a large camera would have made things tough.

On the image making side, I think the M9's metering coupled with the sensor elevates these images over what I'm used to with Canon DSLR's (and I should think Nikon gear would be similar to Canon). When I first borrowed an M9 from a friend, I would marvel at the files created.

Perhaps something about the quality of the lens or its design also helps "cut through" the airplane windows made of glass and plastic, that weren't in that great of condition.

That's my best shot an an answer for you. In any case, so glad it worked so well and I was able to capture these scenes.

Excellent, thanks for this. I've had some success taking pictures out of plane windows with my R6, but not as good as these.

Although the M9 is obviously a mighty piece of equipment (I would like to be able to afford one) a lot of credit goes to the photographer, too.

Kind regards
