Where in the World Challenge 1

Ok it was too easy. I was hoping just showing a bit of the "challenge" might add to the fun.....

Ok my last for now,I ve made it more tricky, the city is easy ,but where in that city ?
I liked how the turret mirrored / echoed their helmets.

Ok, here is a little more about how I found out about the location :

I only was in NY once and didn't really enter in Central Park. But I love street photography and happen to have the book of Bruce Davidson which he shot in Central Park.

Here are some links to the biography of Bruce Davidson :

The book on Central Park is not his best known. He is more famous for his subway pictures or those of Harlem. Here is a link to Amazon :

I like to think I'm just that smart, but you're probably right. ;)

I forgot to mention I like the photo. The young monk (or whatever the proper name is) is a beautiful subject, and the OOF temple obviously adds to the photo. Good job!

I'll have to dig around for something suitable to the thread. I can think of a few that might work, but balancing the objectives is tricky.

I have some roofing to do, but will look later. Thanks for the additional information. For all the wonders of that great city, I doubt I'll ever visit. I don't care for crowds, and it's probably not going to be on my way to anywhere else I want to go.

Darn it .

When I first saw it I thought it was an Anish Kapoor sculpture {there was one all polished in the British Miseum }but the reflection didn t look right . Now I know why , it s in chicago !

He does a lot of stuff with good reflections in oil and polished metals like that. Good for us photogs.

I ve never seen or heard of this before. It looks like something out of "When the earth stood still."

Say what you like about us Brits but we can do big sculptures and buildings rather well. {Richard Rogers}
An educational thread - love it.

Don't let this great thread die - it's the first one I found here which is fun and educational and not the "my gear is better than yours" line.

Here we go again: Where was this one taken ?

Find out where this is - maybe easy for some of you

Shot with the E520 before I purchased my GH2 - kind of cousin as the sensor size is the same.

Shot from St Paul's Cathedral?

Love the shot!

The "Calem" sign made it easy to find. Nice post!

Of course - for all people who enjoy a nice Port it was easy :))

Cheers, Ernst
Another clue was the great bridge designed and built by
Gustav Eiffel,
Our family name is Taylor and we trudged
all the way up to the bodegas to buy a bottle of Taylor's Port.
Carried it all round Portugal and Spain, finally got it home,
then we saw the same type of port for a lot less in the local
supermarket.
