I like silver. How about you?

Silver. Black paint will come off after couple of months like it did with E-P2.

Silver, with black leather skin.

I don't like the shiney silver on the middle of the body, as it looks too flashy, but like the silver colored top panel so I did a leather skin and it looks fantastic, works with both silver and black lenses and has a total retro look

black doesn't look bad, but its a little boring and the chrome bands look sort of cheap to me for some reason, like a tacky bit of "bling", I don't know. Not half bad with the silver lenses thouh

I could live with black but someone the silver just suits the styling better for the retro vibe and the leather kits look amazing and really take the camera to another level, looks wise

I was going to go the silver route thinking it more retro looking, but they only had black at the time I ordered, so got black and am very happy with it, so it's black for me! It too looks very retro and lovely!

I liked the Silver of the old EP1 as it had the retro stainless steel look , the EP3 looks the same (only cheaper due to the EPL-esque protruding mode dial) , the black just looks like a wider EPL2 with an irritating siver strip around the top part and a less practical grip

A Problem is only the pessimistic way of looking at a challenge

what kind of leather skin are you using? Can you give us a name? I have a silver one on order as it seemed the popular one but the shiny body is giving me doubts, the black does look ok, like any other camera, and the chrome bands do look cheap. I am wondering if black is a little less bling. Is the silver one real shiny? Does it look cheap? I guess when you spend $900 on a camera you want it to look a bit different than all the other cheap plasticky ones out there.
Also is it true that the silver is a bit more scratch resistant than black?
Thanks

You just don't see that look very often. Classy, plus it matches the 45mm and 12mm.

The silver doesn't look cheap (not to me, anyway) - anything but. It looks gorgeous "in person" - better than in product shots on websites etc. The top and baseplates are satin metal plated in a slightly warm-toned chrome (or some kind of alloy) which is nicely fingerprint-oil resistant and looks very much like the satin chrome of yesteryear, whilst the brushed steel body panels have a thick, clear protective varnish, so they should wear well and be pretty resistant to marks (I know the black-tinted varnish of the black E-P2 was a bit fragile, but that finish was only ever offered on the E-P2 and the problems appear to have been specific to it). I haven't yet seen a black E-P3 in anything other than photos - it appears to have a matte anodised metal finish, similar to the black GF1 etc. but a bit more matte still - I imagine that darkens a bit where the oil from fingers is deposited. Actually, probably the hardest-wearing, least markable finish is the white, since that is enamelled so it doesn't show anything - not dust, oil, and grime just wipes off - that was certainly the case with the white E-P1 and as the E-P3 in silver has the same finish as the silver E-P1, I'd imagine the white version is also like its predecessor. The white ones tend not to look like plastic, but more like some sort of expensive ceramic finish. They're very striking, but not to everyone's taste, I suppose.

I noticed that whereas in the US, UK and Europe we get a choice of all three finishes, but Australia doesn't get the white one, while the Japanese home market isn't offered the black one (or at least, not last time I checked).

With the white one, it looks like it is painted white and the paint may peel off.

Yes I'd like to know what black leather case too!

Also I like combination of tarnished gold with light brown.

For cameras I think black is better because it is less reflective

MFT in progress

If you eventually get the 12 or 45 they look better on the silver body, with the leatherette, totally classy.

Thanks for the skin info. Though I think it may be harder to put the grip on with the thicker one.
