Top troller is banned for now, but what next?

I have a ton of other forums I post on that aren't like this. I'm almost thinking the D90 forum on DPReview is just for threads like this, which is really lame you ask me.

If people on my mt bike forums want to just vent and spew there's another forum, which we all know about, where that's the sole purpose of the forum and, again, people know the rules when they go there. Here on DPReview, photogs (?) try to blend the two and it's just tiresome as heck. Don't the spewers have another outlet for their sh!t than here? Come on, guys, go somewhere else.

But really, I don't care. Why am I even typing this? Must be the wine!

Dude, you just replied to your own reply. I never considered you, Peter Pans, a troll, yet you seem to be lumped in with the others here, why I dunno or care. I'm not like the rest of the guys here, I don't have any vested concern as to how my comments are treated or whether anybody takes my advice seriously. It doesn't matter one bit whatsoever. I'm a veteran of "teh intranets" and act accordingly. It's like looking down from on high at a rumble at a trailer park.
No, I was just adding to what I said, which is why it says "I hasten to add" at the end. Re-read it. I was actually giving you a high-5 for your devastating use of sarcasm. Brits appreciate sarcasm whereas most people think it's offensive. We see it as light hearted, others see it as insulting. This often leads to awkward situations, but they're funny as well ;) I'm not the evil person that people on here have tried to make me out to be or tried to goad me into being.
Great thread. Anybody contemplating joining DPReview needs to read this entire thread to evaluate whether it's the kind of place they want to hang out. Stellar work, guys.
And don't forget that they did it without my help.
Sarcasm noted and used with devastating effect I hasten to add.

CAnon D7 forum for fresh air!
It does stink doesn't it? I noticed how nauseating it was the minute I got here when it was in full-swing with 82 posts. I think a lot of people have shot themselves in the foot here and shown who the real trolls are.

Why am I even typing this? Must be the wine!
I love a good Australian Shiraz, California Cabernet, and others, but today in Montreal, 35°C (95°F), it's definitely cold beer weather!

Here it's 102F.....thinking about freezing some wine coolers into ice cubes and just holding them on my forehead.
Stick a couple in your armpits and behind your knees - you'd be amazed at how cools you!
Might look a bit strange to passers by, though ;-)

Actually, an Australian Chardonnay. And it's high 90s here daily. We're kindred spirits!

Let's keep the replies coming. Death to this thread I say. (insert emoticon of a guy throwing a thumbs up, which I can easily do on my mountain bike forums and not really here. I think that makes a ton of difference, a strategic emoticon doncha think?)

I heard that the BP oil spill was not as bad as it seemed. They took the pics of the spill with a D7000, which is why everything looked so oily.

Apples an oranges. The people on your bike forums are probably not independent thinkers, being more like jocks so they don't mind regimentation .
Photographers are cut from different cloth .
Here on DPReview, photogs (?) try to blend the two and it's just tiresome as heck. Don't the spewers have another outlet for their sh!t than here? Come on, guys, go somewhere else.
The problem you have there is that no one forces you to read posts that offend you.

You are No 1!!! :-)

I think these two lines deserved a patent not only for innovation but also for the depth!

This thread is pure, unadulterated garbage, fueled by a pathetic loser using a host of aliases to literally talk to himself.

Individuals like this can't really be blamed for their actions, since they are acting under impulses they don't control, like shouters and twitchers on buses.

Instead it's up to dpreview to moderate the forums much more closely before such people drive away those actually interested in photography and the site dies, choked by such garbage.

This thread is pure, unadulterated garbage, fueled by a pathetic loser using a host of aliases to literally talk to himself.
If you're referring to me, I'll have you know that this thread had 82 posts from pathetic losers on it before I even posted.

not true. It works everywhere, where there are more "normal" users than trolls.
I guess we disagree on wether there are to much trolls and people who "fight" trolls. I think in this forum it would lead to big problems. I don't know it, it's just my impression. I would be happy if I'm wrong.

As I wrote, such a system works in a forum without problems - or with enough normal people who don't get dragged into the "we vs. them" game.

But looking at this thread I get the impression that it's to late. Maybe there are just a few trolls who use multiple accounts, and maybe the "normal" posters would only only tag postings that are real troll posts and flame posts with "-". I don't know.

If used correctly it's a good idea, but if such a system gets misused it can create more problems than just ignoring the troublemakers.
Im not sure if you are aware of slashdot.org - the site has around 5.5 milion users and the discussion is user-moderated. It works absolutely flawlessly.
Yes, I know /. But I've seen other forums - smaller ones than /. - that turned into a madhouse, because the "karma points" got used to tag unwanted people and as a way to fight against people.

This is my FIRST post on this thread (at post No 82). Let me introduce myself. I am the person who was Angry-pixel, Peter Pans, tlly89 and aert4artsake.

I am not and never have been CaseyKittyKat or FeedMe.

Really Dumbfenbach (among others) claim that CaseyKittyKat and I were the
same person because the similarities in the way things were phrased
indicated that we were both Brits. That's because we ARE both Brits, so it's
hardly surprising, doh!

I live in England right now and CaseyKittyKat is a British ex-patriot living
near Perth in Australia. We proved this with the results of broadband speed
tests that showed our respective nearest servers. Mine was Manchester (UK),
Casey's was Perth in Austrailia. He came here to enquire about warranties
because he wanted to buy a camera, but the warranty wouldn't be valid when
he moved back to the UK which he was intent on doing.

I have been in mail contact with Casey and he's returning to the UK in two
weeks. The flights are booked. He's staying with friends until he gets a
house sorted out. We have arranged to hook up for a days shooting (when
we've sorted what cameras we are getting) near where he will be staying,
which just happens to be very near to where my dad owned a farm (now
retired), although no date has been finalised.

And why do we have to be the same person just because we have a similar
opinion anyway? How disingenuous can you get? Are all of those who think the
D7000 is the best thing since sliced bread the same person? Well, they have
the same opinion don't they? How is it that you lot can all agree, but
remain individual people, but as soon as two people have an opinion you
don't like, it means that they are the same person? Pathetic. Talk about
$hit for brains.

I don't know who FeedMe is. I've owned up to the screen names that I posted
under and I'm even owning up to this one, so I have no reason to hide behind
either CaseyKittyKat or FeedMe. Neither of them are me.

What I saw happen with FeedMe was a new poster being attacked by trolls as
soon as he poked his head above the parapet, which is all too common around
here and gave me a real sense of de ja vu. This poster gave a very balanced
view, pointing out the weaknesses AND the strengths of the D7000, but that
isn't good enough for those who want the positive points to be announced
about the camera shouted from the roof tops and the negative points brushed
under the carpet because it reflects on their choice. It really is a pride
thing.

The only reason I came back after Peter Pans (I didn't intend to), is
because someone saw fit to still report me and get me banned in spite of all
my apologies and my pledge to try harder in the future to be more tolerant.
Since when has a D7000 troll/fanboy ever apologised? Hmmmm? What kind of
tolerance do they show people who are concerned about purchasing a camera
with so many reported problems? NONE. The only reason I've come back NOW, is
because your attacks don't even stop when I'm not here. This is the most
troll infested thread I've ever seen and this is my FIRST post on it.

What this thread has revealed is the REAL trolls around here. I've been
attacked and falsely accused in my absence in an 82 post trollfest and yet
people claim that I'M the troll. The REAL trolls around here are the ones
who provoke arguments as soon as someone has doubts about the D7000 and
questions it. The response is usually something like, "The D7000 is for
skilled photographers like me. If you're having problems it MUST be user
error because you're a simpleton who doesn't know what he's doing. You'd be
better off with a point and shoot".

Tell me, how is that NOT going to get someone's back up? That is where it
all starts, with the D7000 owning trolls, the ones who have been on this
thread giving me a good bashing when I'm not even here.

Why are people labelled trolls for defending themselves against the REAL
trolls? The reason is simple ~ because these D7000 owning trolls are raving

hypocrites. Someone (puffthefish I think) touched on that in this thread by asking
if anyone saw the irony in this thread, i.e, trolls discussing trolls. As
soon as someone has the audacity to criticise the D7000, the diabolical
character assassination begins and you wonder why things get heated? Look
more closely, look in a mirror for the cause, for the catalyst that starts
the trouble, because it's YOU.

Yeah I wound the fanboys up, but fanboys who were attacking me. I wound them
all up like clock-work dildo's to such an extend they were still filling 82
thread posts full of lies and vitriol in my absence. They attacked me the
minute I started posting and then had the cheek to complain because I
defended myself. I swore that you'd rue the day you started on me and you DO
now.

Now I'm not about to respond to all of the posts on here, but thought I'd
just address a particularly pathetic post by Jonikon....
I suspect the DPR moderators keep their eyes on the number of posts,
rather than the content, unfortunately.
Some things I have noticed about trolls on DPR:
They seem to be obsessed with the word "fanboy" and use it a lot. The
trolls seem to think it is an effective cudgel to use against the well
adjusted, that they resent so much.
The REAL trolls are obsessed with the words "user error". The trolls seem
to think it is an effective cudgel to use against the well adjusted
enquirer, that they resent so much.
They are usually poor photographer (if they are photographers at all).
Mako called me an "excellent" photographer a few days ago. Was he talking
out of his posterior? Other people have complimented me too.
They rarely post any photos or have any photos in their gallery. and if
they do post any photos, they are of poor composition and image quality.
I have posted numerous photo's (100+) and as for image quality, I refer you
again to Mako's comment above. Also, my only three entries into forum
competitions were ALL placed in the top ten, third place being the highest.
That means that I had a 100% success rate at getting into the top ten. Not
bad for poor composition and image quality eh? Do I detect some jealousy
here?
They are argumentative, anti-social and rude.
I was very polite, friendly and humorous when I first came here, until the
argumentative, anti-social and rude D7000 fanboys/trolls started on me. You
raving hypocrites just don't like it if you get back even 10% of what you
dish out, but ended up with a bloody nose (hypothetical of course). Like I
said, I wound you up like clock-work dildo's and you're still at it.
They contribute nothing of value to the forum, just negativity.
Again, Mako (and many other people) have thanked me for my contributions and
my C/C when requested. I'm hoping that Mako, in spite of our differences, is
going to stand by that now. He doesn't have to like me, just be honest. And
loads of people have thanked me for the humour I inject into discussions.
They are resentful of those with money or talent. Both of which they
apparently have in short supply.
I don't think you could do a better job of exposing yourself as a snob. I've
have plenty of money, but also plenty of other priorities that are more
important. And RE the talent or lack thereof, see above.
They are angry people, who live angry lives. (Maybe violent in real life.)
I must admit, if you spoke to me in real life the way you've spoken to me on
here, there IS a good chance that you'd be picking your teeth up from the
floor, but I have never launched an unprovoked attack in my life. I've
belted a few when I was a bouncer, but they were trouble causers having a
pop at me. My aggression has always been channelled into combat/martial
sport. I spent my youth boxing and had few years cage-fighting. I am trained
in boxing, BBJ (Brazilian Ju Jitsu), Mauy Thai (kick) Boxing and Greco Roman
wrestling. I've even got the flat nose to show for it. Why, do you fancy
your chances big mouth? Like I said, I've never engaged in unprovoked
attacks, so you'll have to throw the first punch, your LAST.
They are anti-social.
So that's what must have drawn me to this social community. I have quite a
varied social life and have quite an input in the community in which I live.
You should try not to judge me on how I defend myself against dickhead's
like you.
They seem to be over-compensating for an inferiority complex.
That's just projection. The reason you're pulling me to pieces is probably
to big yourself up, probably because of YOUR inferiority complex. I'm not
inferior (especially to you dickhead) and therefore have no inferiority
complex.
In short, they are pathetic losers looking for reactions to their bad
behavior and have found a place and a way to get it, in these forums.
You've just described the D7000 fanyboys/trolls to a T. You lack the
discernment of a gnat. And don't forget that I wouldn't even BE here if I
hadn't seen the thread full of trolls attacking me in my absence. People
like you bring it on and then point to others as the instigators.

Jon..you say he has a good point..then go on to state your true feelings when you challenge him with the "so called fanboys" comment. Your head has to be CLEARLY in the sand if you dont think there is a dedicated group of posters hear at the first sign of d7000 issue posts swoop in and go full negative from the get go...I for one took the wrath of fanboys on the d7000 and decided to stay away for a few months (and for the record Nikon admitted my 7x was a piece of crap and replaced it)...Bottom line Jon is this...this has become a if you dont praise the alter of Nikon equipment then you dont belong here forum...and its a shame...free speech...just dont make it speech i dont want to hear or your banned...classic
Unfortunately, the troll/basher problem is exacerbated by the fanboys who simply can not let any slighting of their D7000 go unchallenged.
Ignoring both of these extreme groups would be the prudent thing to do.
You have a good point, and some chose to argue with him even though it was clear that was his only intent. But also consider that some of these so called fanboys are actually trying to help someone they have been misled to believe is a newbie or someone wanting to switch to the Nikon brand. Angry Pixel was quite devious in developing so many persona and, even answering one of his persona with another!.

I must say that some of his aliases fooled me as well for a time as he never listed them all in his faux confession.

Best regards,
Jon

The right to free speech has nothing to do with posting on a privately owned bullitain board. That is just silly.

This board has gone through this many times, I took off shortly after the D5000 came out and the fans of it who screamed when it was compared to a D90. It seems that when someone points out a camera is better for someone, some people cant handle it.
Then there was the D90 exposes funny threads.

And the d90 needs a firmware upgrade to add features we didn't pay for.

Protest Nikon and get a petition against them!!

I am surprise that you, coming from a martial arts background, is acting in a such despair...

I've come from a martial arts family and we have fought many times with all sorts of opponents. I have learned Brazilian jiu jitsu and again fought many times.

But if there is one thing that you learn in martial arts that you are not showing here is self control. The other, respect.

Even loosing mate, sometimes you win. Learn that for you life.

You DO need to calm down, rethink what you posting here because the only thing you are doing is making people angry. I don't care if you camera has issues or not, no one here cares to be honest. Find a solution in yourself, like you would do in a fight situation when the opponent has advantages over you.

Stop blaming of adding your frustrations here. Have you noticed it doesn't work? Have you taken your frustrations to the tatami?

So please rethink your actions.

With respect,
Aborigene
