SARs - Images of A77 confirmed as authentic (SR5)

if this is indeed true than we have a bigger than A580 camera on our hands...which i dont really get...unless it has some real solid building ..

after all consider the A55 is about 60% of the A580 size due to the lack of all the mirror complicated machinism .

oh well..at least it has infra red assist light.

now all we need is the leak nex7 photos :) and side photos from this one to see how big is the eye relief

What would the problem be with a camera bigger than an A580?

Sure the A77 might have been able to be smaller but would that have been the best thing? Some people consider cameras like the A55 too small especially when attached to the larger and heavier glass.

I don't know exactly what I expected of the camera, but this thread isn't playing out the way I thought it would.

I expected a lot of complaints about the camera and then some sparring between the critics and supporters, but we seem to have more or less accepted the camera and have gone directly to personal attacks and insults. Shame on us.

Nah, we're just being more efficient, and getting straight to the heart of the matter! ;)

Sorry to say Ray but I think you are right.

Ain't that good? ... wait until it becomes real ;-)

As of this post the thread is at 48 posts total - with one member serving a few attacks for a total of less than 6% of this thread affected as a consequence. That is below the forums's perceived average in threads discussing unreleased Sony Alphas. No reason to be ashamed of 'us' just yet IMHO.

The subjective reason is that after three years of reading arrogant BS from a bunch of embittered old KM users I'm glad to see the last of the KM dna removed from the sony cameras.
You sound like an old die-hard Sony loyalist, who refused to buy an SLR until you could get one from Sony. When it finally arrived, it had Minolta written all over it. Well, if it makes you happy, there never was any KM dna. Konica long since stopped making SLRs, so all the dna was from the minds of Minolta, and guess what: It still is. The bayonet, the flash shoe, the AF system, the basic button layout. Gotta love it! Even the "futuristic" design is retrograde, because it harks back to the days of the Minolta 9xi:

or the Minolta 7xi:

and the A77 for reference:

It's hilarious, that 9xi picture ABSOLUTELY OWNS dudes assertion that Minolta DNA has been eradicated.

That said im so looking forward to the a77 and it looks like they made it large enough for children above 12yrs of age to have a comfortable grip when leveraging larger/heavier lenses. Im sitting here waiting on my Canon 7D to return for the 2nd time from Canon and thinking I have had 5 Sony bodies and never had a single issue with none of them. I enjoy the a55 and all it needs is a few upgrades to be an absolutely stellar camera in terms of how I wish to use it. Hopefully there is a studio light work around, the EVF is said to be a notch above the a55 ( which is functional ), improved AF system, and 24 mp for cropping. I believe ill be in heaven. Probably buy a CZ24-70 for it initially. Other than size im most excited about an improved EVF with faster refresh and higher resolution with presumably better contrast, its going to be so nice. There are many things I prefer my a55 for but I still gravitate towards my Canon 7D with large lenses for wildlife and other action shots, this one camera solution will be nice. The a700 was less convenient for casual shooting and landscapes than the a55, so know I finally will have a single camera solution for all my desires.........crossing fingers and if its 1000-1200 its ON!!

LOL! Sony should get rid of in body stabilization too then! I like how these newbie sony owners come in here with their A33/A55 thinking they know everything about Sony cameras. If it wasn't for Minolta, you WOULDN'T own your Sony SLT right now.
For two reasons, principally, one objective and one subjective. The objective reason is the similarities with canon will make it more attractive to people switching from that brand, which is a huge potential customer base. The subjective reason is that after three years of reading arrogant BS from a bunch of embittered old KM users I'm glad to see the last of the KM dna removed from the sony cameras.

The photos and rumors are great, But I am just ready to buy 2 of these ASAP!

The first Sony SLR/SLT that actually looks good !!!

(I new that there still have to be some designers at Sony who are worth their title.)

Sorry to eventually burst that bubble described in the last sentence, but what the a77 (if it comes as shown and rumored) actually combines is a bit of that Canon EOS design as seen on the Canon 7D and still a whole lot of the Minolta 9xi design:

Anyone who thinks that the minolta in these shots has anything remotely similar to the A77 must be smoking crack. Imagine the cameras in silhouette. The canon 7d and A77 are like twin sisters, one with a slightly longer neck, while minolta is the lopsided hunchback (look at it!) brother that no one likes to talk about after 'what happened'.

But you guys go right ahead with dreaming if it makes you feel better.

The fact that a-mount lenses are still worth any money at all is thanks to the success of SLT.

Regardless of where the design came from, I must admit, I think the sloped shoulders is a step back. The A700 and A900 really stand out, design-wise, IMO...and I never owned a KM DSLR.

Your answer was predictable and aggressive. And while we are at it, just because you have a limited ability to form nuanced and non-ad-hominem views as soon as you disagree with other's views doesn't mean that people who disagree with you suffer in the same way. (borrowed from: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1037&message=38941497 )

Look at the T90 again, the 9xi and the a77. I see a mix as stated above, even in the silhouette, and even more so in the HMI (UI), and i am not smoking anything. I am sure none of the others you attack with your blanket statement smoke anything, either. In that context, I settle on disagreement with you.

Don't loose sleep about it, though. Bye.

Hard to be nuanced when someone is trying to say the form of the 9xi is similar to the radically different form of the a77.

No problems there. Same to you.
