1- do you believe sigma cameras are better than the competition because it lacks features other brands have?
No - cameras aren't better because they lack features unless those features detract from the main feature of the camera , I also don't believe that Sigma cameras are better than the competition, they ARE different enough to add to "normal" Canon or Nikon Rig .
2- would be feel bothered by new tech implemented on a sigma camera?
Absolutely not
3- do you believe the new SD1 is a groundbreaking camera? if so, why?
Absolutely not - it's basically a metal SD15 with the top LCD removed which has been tweaked and fitted with an up to date sensor
4- Do you believe shooting with a sigma makes you feel like shooting in the old days of film? (the camera experience, not the results)
only the SD14 - it's like shooting a plate camera (shot to shot) if you want to avoid lockups ;- )
c) 40 to 50

A Problem is only the pessimistic way of looking at a challenge

1- do you believe sigma cameras are better than the competition because it lacks features other brands have?
My "loyalty" is to the Foveon brand X3 chip inside those Sigma cameras. I do believe that limiting features is a good thing. But I also believe that features should be limited as a design choice, not because the company is sitting 5 years behind the curve ...
2- would be feel bothered by new tech implemented on a sigma camera?
I'd be more interested in seeing current tech implemented in Sigma cameras (and their firmware). Decent resolution LCDs, relatively current CDAF speeds, more cropping options in firmware (and even something as simple as more gridline options).
3- do you believe the new SD1 is a groundbreaking camera? if so, why?
Not really, the SD1 Foveon chip appears to just be a larger version of the existing chip tech. And there's already been enough reviews about how far behind the curve the body is. Between the age of the body and the pricing, I believe Sigma is doing more to damage Foveon instead of protecting and advancing their protegé. On the other hand, imagine implementing a fixed lens DP series camera with the custom micro-lens adjustments that appeared in the Fuji X100 ... just because many of us are not fans of Bayer tech does not mean we shouldn't be learning from the so-called "enemy" ...
4- Do you believe shooting with a sigma makes you feel like shooting in the old days of film? (the camera experience, not the results)
Again, one should never confuse limitations imposed as conscious design decisions with limitations imposed through lack of experience or lack of knowledge. The Leica M9 has plenty of limitations, but then Leica also has a history of working with photographers, a history of conscious design decisions that has earned respect (and a pricetag that is commiserate with those expectations).

1- do you believe sigma cameras are better than the competition because it lacks features other brands have?
No.
2- would be feel bothered by new tech implemented on a sigma camera?
Yes, because it will probably take 3 years before it works properly.
3- do you believe the new SD1 is a groundbreaking camera? if so, why?
Yes - groundbreaking price!
4- Do you believe shooting with a sigma makes you feel like shooting in the old days of film? (the camera experience, not the results)
Yes - have to think about each shot.
5- For the last part (please do not feel offended), how old are you?
50-60

1- do you believe sigma cameras are better than the competition because it lacks features other brands have?
No, although if they were up to date on features that didn't complicate usage, I'd say yes. In some ways it is nice not worrying about 80 bazillion menu options, and 30 bazillion custom settings. On the other hand, a modern LCD, and a better AF system, and the like would be nice.
2- would be feel bothered by new tech implemented on a sigma camera?
maybe. If they add fluff crap that doesn't help taking pictures it'd be bothersome. other updates that would make the camera more current would be liked.
3- do you believe the new SD1 is a groundbreaking camera? if so, why?
no. The camera itself is ho-hum. A high resolution foveon is a bit of a leap, but not so far that I'd even call the sensor "ground breaking", and certainly not the camera.
4- Do you believe shooting with a sigma makes you feel like shooting in the old days of film? (the camera experience, not the results)
I never shot film, so I cannot say.
5- For the last part (please do not feel offended), how old are you?
b) 30 to 40

1- do you believe sigma cameras are better than the competition because it lacks features other brands have?
No, but imho this question is not correct anyway. This queston is similar to "have you stopped drinking vodka at every morning?".
2- would be feel bothered by new tech implemented on a sigma camera?
No, unless this is done at the cost of current features. (For example I don't like removing top LCD from SD1.)
3- do you believe the new SD1 is a groundbreaking camera? if so, why?
No.
4- Do you believe shooting with a sigma makes you feel like shooting in the old days of film? (the camera experience, not the results)
Yes, because SD14 is my first and only camera after the old film SLR :)
5- For the last part (please do not feel offended), how old are you?
40 to 50

1- do you believe sigma cameras are better than the competition because it lacks features other brands have?
better, no; but lacking 'features' such as pet mode, sunset mode, and other fluff actually isn't bad.
2- would be feel bothered by new tech implemented on a sigma camera?
not at all, if it were worthwhile and improved the IQ, image capture, handling, etc
3- do you believe the new SD1 is a groundbreaking camera? if so, why?
yes, price. yes, new sensor's high resolution. Body and other features, no.
4- Do you believe shooting with a sigma makes you feel like shooting in the old days of film? (the camera experience, not the results)
I never shot much film, but the SD9/10 certainly handled like the Sigma SA7 I have (and don't use)... that was my first SLR... when I couldn't afford the SD9 when it first came out. What was the initial price, I remember well over $1000 which would equate in today's dollars to a LOT more.

Back to the question/answer.... The SD14 is somewhat more complex in functions and features.
5- For the last part (please do not feel offended), how old are you?

d) 50 to 60
e) 60 to 70
f) more than 70....
You're asking a lady?? Nah, it's no secret. e) Sigh.

1- do you believe sigma cameras are better than the competition because it lacks features other brands have?
Uhh? Wha? You kidding right? Doesn't ipso facto make them worse, but better?
2- would be feel bothered by new tech implemented on a sigma camera?
Nope
3- do you believe the new SD1 is a groundbreaking camera? if so, why?
Other than the sensor, no
4- Do you believe shooting with a sigma makes you feel like shooting in the old days of film? (the camera experience, not the results)
I shot film for almost fifty years. Digital is digital. And I've been shooting Digital since 1996

1- do you believe sigma cameras are better than the competition because it lacks features other brands have?
Do you think adding any arbitrary feature makes one camera better than another.

Do you think a camera is measured by feature count alone.
2- would be feel bothered by new tech implemented on a sigma camera?
If a camera you used offered Smile Detection, and they removed that feature in the next model, would you then abandon that brand of camera?
3- do you believe the new SD1 is a groundbreaking camera? if so, why?
Ground comes in all levels of firmness.
4- Do you believe shooting with a sigma makes you feel like shooting in the old days of film? (the camera experience, not the results)
Why would anyone care about shooting feeling like film, as opposed to images. Otherwise wouldn't it be just as fun to go shooting with no film?

If they deleted Mother-In-Law mode I would abandon the brand in a heart beat. Can't live without that one... :(

1- do you believe sigma cameras are better than the competition because it lacks features other brands have?
Feature count does not determine whether one camera is "better" than another.

Also, what is a "better" camera to me could be completely different from another persons "better" camera.
2- would be feel bothered by new tech implemented on a sigma camera?
No, as long as implementing the new features does not take away from the core function of taking pictures.
3- do you believe the new SD1 is a groundbreaking camera? if so, why?
Yes.

1.) Even though the resultant image only has 15MP, the camera has to process 46MP of data. When that is considered, the burst rate is amazing.
2.) The sensor.

3.) The potential image quality. - I believe we will see much better images as the SPP issues are sorted out. There have been a small number of amazing shots and a lot of average to mediocre ones out there so far.

Things that are not groundbreaking in my book:
a.) LCD Display - It's decent but not top of the line.
b.) Feature count (No so important, at least to me)
4- Do you believe shooting with a sigma makes you feel like shooting in the old days of film? (the camera experience, not the results)
To a small extent with the DP1 and a little lesser with the SD14 both primarily due to small buffers. You have to plan your shots or you could miss something while waiting for the buffer to make room. The SD15 completely solved the buffer issue with the 21-shot RAW buffer they implemented. I'm still waiting to get my hands on an SD1 to see how the buffer handles my shooting style.

I also like the simplicity of the camera modes. I often see newer shooters with their shiny new CaNikons and they struggle finding how to change even the basic settings.

1- do you believe sigma cameras are better than the competition because it lacks features other brands have?
I like simplicity, but I have not been overwhelmed by the options on non-Sigma cameras.
2- would be feel bothered by new tech implemented on a sigma camera?
No, so long as it does not increase the overall "bugginess" of the system. I see that other offerings from such as Fuji and Nikon suffer from this as well.
3- do you believe the new SD1 is a groundbreaking camera? if so, why?
Over three times the pixel count of the previous Foveon sensor is nothing to sneeze at, but I would call it "a welcome evolutionary improvement" instead of "groundbreaking".
4- Do you believe shooting with a sigma makes you feel like shooting in the old days of film? (the camera experience, not the results)
No. The little screen on the back gives me all-important knowledge about how my shot turned out, and it gives it to me within a couple seconds. No need to wait a day for film to get developed and printed somewhere. No chemicals either!
5- For the last part (please do not feel offended), how old are you?

1- do you believe sigma cameras are better than the competition because it lacks features other brands have?
No. Pretty much every feature the competition has, can easily be deactivated/not used.

Unfortunately the Sigmas have some exclusive features (color cast, lockups, corrupted files,...) that can not be that easily deactivated.

The Sigmas are better/different because of their sensor and some nice glass (especially in the DP series). There's a significant difference between pure and simple design and technology that's just out of date.
2- would be feel bothered by new tech implemented on a sigma camera?
Not at all, as long as it works as intended. At least Live View and tethering would have to be expected from a studio cam/MF contender like the SD1. Not because it's some recent bells and whistles, but because it's very helpful. For the same reason Sigma didn't give up on AF or all those half-automatic modes (P, A, S) either.
3- do you believe the new SD1 is a groundbreaking camera? if so, why?
For Sigma: Yes
In general: No

It's a special camera, but it offers nothing new that would make it groundbreaking (except the price).
4- Do you believe shooting with a sigma makes you feel like shooting in the old days of film? (the camera experience, not the results)
No. Only film is like film. But that fact alone doesn't make Sigma worse in any respect.
5- For the last part (please do not feel offended), how old are you?
b) 30 to 40

1- do you believe sigma cameras are better than the competition because it lacks features other brands have?
Sometimes, yes. Would my DP2 be as good if it had the expected zoom range of a compact? Very unlikely.
2- would be feel bothered by new tech implemented on a sigma camera?
Not when it isn't in the way of taking a photo. For example, I'd love my camera to have GPS tagging as long as it just did its job invisibly in the background with no user interaction whatsoever.
3- do you believe the new SD1 is a groundbreaking camera? if so, why?
Maybe if you're new to Foveon ;)
4- Do you believe shooting with a sigma makes you feel like shooting in the old days of film? (the camera experience, not the results)

1- do you believe sigma cameras are better than the competition because it lacks features other brands have?
Certainly not.
2- would be feel bothered by new tech implemented on a sigma camera?
If they were positive and fixed the largely experimental feel of the foveon thingie - no.
3- do you believe the new SD1 is a groundbreaking camera? if so, why?
Not groundbreaking from a photographic perspective. Groundbreaking from a marketing perspective.
4- Do you believe shooting with a sigma makes you feel like shooting in the old days of film? (the camera experience, not the results)
Of course. There are no other options when using Sigma.

1- do you believe sigma cameras are better than the competition because it lacks features other brands have?
Do you think adding any arbitrary feature makes one camera better than another.
Any arbitrary? you will have to be specific...been able to choose minimum shutter speed, with an intelligent iso is very useful. The new feature in the nex line (for manual focus) is very useful, among other things. All these things make your camera more useful (than others) under certain situations.
Do you think a camera is measured by feature count alone.
No, i think a camera is measured by inchs (or centimeters if you prefer)
2- would be feel bothered by new tech implemented on a sigma camera?
If a camera you used offered Smile Detection, and they removed that feature in the next model, would you then abandon that brand of camera?
Only if the girl i was dating at the time had a beautiful smile....

Ground comes in all levels of firmness.
lol.
4- Do you believe shooting with a sigma makes you feel like shooting in the old days of film? (the camera experience, not the results)

Body. Soul would require a lot of other questions....mind i wont bother enter into details....

2- would be feel bothered by new tech implemented on a sigma camera?
No, as long as implementing the new features does not take away from the core function of taking pictures.
can you exemplify?
I also like the simplicity of the camera modes. I often see newer shooters with their shiny new CaNikons and they struggle finding how to change even the basic settings.
So more modes gives you more trouble to choose from? (i mean generally?)
