I think this video is amazing. I've seen it at least half a dozen times. Tell me what you guys think:

I'm interested in what lens he used for the night shots, particularly @ 0:30
I think that some of these (if not many) are stacked and some even HDR.
The jig he mounted the camera on also gives a really amazing panning effect.

Whatever he does, he does it well!

Awe-inspiring, thanks for posting. A reminder of just how beautiful our natural environment is and, to me, just how little respect we show it :(

Vimeo states his videos aren't available for download. Could you send me a link - I must be missing something obvious!
I am using DownloadHelper add-on for FireFox for downloading videos.

Thanks for the tip, I've downloaded 'em now. Wish we could download the full-res versions - imagine the beauty of the full 1.7GB files compared to the 60MB files streamed on Vimeo...

...what about the copyright on the music??

Did he get permission to use the Gladiator music on the Aurora film??

amazing time lapse. I have been contemplating trying out my time lapse talent. this was done with a 5D? I have a 40D is there concern about shutter wear? I mean this kind of things takes 1000 - 10s of 1000s of images! Im guessing you probable came close to the shutter life of the camera (150,000) just to make that video.
