Should Nikon users feel lower?

I don't up myself thinking I have the best or the worse equipment, I go out and take pictures with it ...
Canon and their forums are so "hot" these days and all the digital
sites are covering the 1Ds.

It seems like Nikon users are misisng all the "action". Or is it
just me?

Two reasons: I like tele photo, it saves me for a 1.5x universal best quality teleconverter and the centre crop effect always gives less distortion images.

GH
full frame, full frame must be full frame,
has both dial on vertical release shutter like D100,
5fps, at least please, no more "x" & "h", I am sick of it.

Pixelman:

I have several digital cameras: The Nikon D100, the Fuji S2 Pro, and yes...the older, yet versatile Fuji 602 Zoom. I visit all of the forums for each camera and if you get stuck at any one forum, you would think the world revolves only around that brand of camera. So if you spend alot of time at the Canon forum, you will wonder if there is anything else.

The reality is that we tend to gravitate towards those who have the same toys and share the same likes and dislikes that we do.

Trust me...I often get mentally exhausted just keeping up with three different forums. It makes my head spin. I periodically have to realize that I should just sit down and enjoy the cameras and what they can do. Each is different and they all have plusses and negatives to their performance values.

If you want a Canon...go buy a Canon and build your system around it. If you are leaning towards Nikon, by all means do so and then build your system around it. It's that simple.

Now go and enjoy some photography.

No price yet.
My dealer will not charge until he ships to me.

I don't think that full frame will be a big market.
The 1.5 film factor is perfect for sports, news, and birds.
Thats where the market will be for quite awhile.
Just my opinion.

Two weeks ago I ordered my D2 Full Frame or what ever it will be
called.
I think that we all will be pleased.

Just came back from a shoot, actually with my CP5K.

Forgot I had D100.

Weekend is almost over, so I think I am going back to work, instead of thinking about this whole pixel issue.

Started this thread as I was bored about no news from Nikon.

But taking no pictures because of it is even more boring.

Good shooting to all... thanks for the posts to get over the blues and the time.

This is true for all cameras (Fuji, Nikon, Olympus, etc.). "Hot" usually means people salivating for something they can never afford to own. For me, there are just too many other things in life to spend money on. I am not a pro so an $8,000 camera is really a stupid purchase. I would rather use a D100 or S2 and save the rest of it for my kids. Let those who have no other life commitments waste their $ on a camera of a ridiculous price!!!!

Canon SLR Talk forum is also more filled with pictures and fun stuff that we all had in mind when we bought our cameras.

Nikon SLR forum is filled with discussions about D100 imperfections, faults, complaints, "test" pictures for others to confirm what we fear (that yes our cameras don't take so good pictures), etc....

Hey Mario,

I think you are right! I sometimes visit Canon's forums, and they are very different.

Why so?

What in the wold is wrong with wanting a company you've invested thousands in to produce a machine that wont limit your creative ability?? I'm sick of the 1.5x fov. Throw it out the window and give me a camera in a smaller body (F100 sytle) and pro features. Pixel count doesn't matter much to me. I just want something that will allow me to do my job the way I've been doing it for years.

Jerry:

Actually, I've found that whatever camera you have, you tend to build your system and then become a fanatic. Even if the camera has shortcomings - which many do - you tend to defend it. What I've done is to overrule this blind loyalty. Hell, if there's a better product out there and somehow I can afford it [which means alot of lying to the wife], I'll get it. I think they call this free enterprise. Between the Fuji and Nikon, however, I tend to reach for the S2 Pro more often than not. I force myself to use the Nikon whenever I can, but the photos overall - right out of the camera are better balanced, more rich in color, and more definition - especially in the interpolated mode [up to 9 MP].

Yeah, but Honda:

The fact is that there are those of us who do not get laid regularly. As a result, we tend to get involved with "transference," which is a simple psychological phrase used to depict the act of shifting one's attention to another activity [in order to replace the void one]. Yes, there are other things in life more important, but everytime I look my wife in the eye and hint that perhaps it's time that "we get it on," and she looks back at me with that frightened look and retort of, "Why - what's the rush? We just did it in February," well - then I know it's time to buy another toy. Ya know what I mean Vern!!!

And when they come out with the 2005 Wooten Wombat 55 Megapixel SLR, I'll be there with bells and whistles on!!!

Don't laugh, 'cause there are many others like me out there!

Regards,

Ben

cool.....I thought real pros will be out there with their equipements shooting....rather than hanging around some forums and reading what others "pros" are saying. As they say, a pro is someone who can take good pictures....

then ...new lessons today, A Pro is someone who cannot take pictures but hangs around forums, chat and yah...is someone who can handle the equipment professionally but not take pictures professionally...

new interesting concept learnt today....

You didn't invest in the company; you bought one of their products.

Hi Pixelman

While I haven't really spent anytime in the Canon forum, I like the Nikon forum. Generally the posts are very friendly, and there's relatively little flamming. When I want excitement I go shooting photo's of my White Balance dog eating the neighborhood crack addicts.
