Hey

I have been looking at Portrait pro as a add on to Lightroom 3. Is it worth getting? Also what is the largest file that the 32 version can handle? Is the 64 version worth that much more than the 32?

Thanks
sean

I'm running Portrait Proffesional V10 Studio with Lightroom 3 and I love the combination. I do my regular adjustments of exposure and contrast/color in Lightroom and then finish editing the raw file converted to tiff on Portrait Professional. The program will save you a copy together with your raw file (2 different files) that you can see on Lightroom after you close PP.

Are you using the 32 or 64? I am just wonder if getting the 64 is worth the extra money?

I'm using the regular Studio (32). I weighted buying the Studio 64 version but I didn't think was worthed. I'm more than happy with my version.

Forgot to add, I am running Windows 7 64-bit on my computer with 12GB RAM and I am still thinking that the Studio 64 version is not needed.

I have Portrait Professional 10 and find it an excellent piece of software. I work with Photoshop not Lightroom so I am sure you will find it even more useful with Lightroom than I do with Photoshop.

Absolutely . . . I have it as a plug in with CS5 . . . works great!
Also what is the largest file that the 32 version can handle?
I have the 32 version and just opened a 92 MB TIF with no probs.
Is the 64 version worth that much more than the 32?
I didn't think it was worth the extra cost and find that the 32 works just fine . . . in fact . . . I love it . . . best 59 bucks I have spent on PP!
Thanks

Go for it!

Another vote for Portrait Professional. I use the 32 bit version. No problems. And it has dramatically improved my retouching workflow. Truly miraculous software.

Only my opinion. It's worth what you paid for it. Your mileage may vary! ;-}

I use it with Lightroom and it saves me a lot of time. Just as good results as editing faces 'by hand' in Lightroom if not better. Women clients LOVE having their faces thinned out in a natural realistic way, and I heard they are coming out with body sculpting tools as well.

It's a great add-on and I use the 32 bit as I don't see the reason I would need 64 at this point.

Very good piece of additional software. Makes a lot of the work easier, and it can fine tune the image too, or you can dump out to PSCS and tweak. But it does a great job all on its own.

I'm using Portrait Professional V10 Studio 64.. I love the software.. I use it along with CS5, ACR, for portrait work. I used te 32 bit version for quite a while before I decided to upgrade to 64 bit. I use a very fast hp pc with windows 7 pro. I just want to say that I really can't tell any difference in performance of the 64 bit.. but that is OK with me. I would not have known for sure unless I tried the 64 bit version. I just thought I would pass my opinion along to others.

If this is not the proper area to ask this question, I appologize. I use LR3 and would like to add Portrait Pro. However, I am new to this and would like your guidance on where I can obtain information on items like. How to add Portrait pro as a Plug-in, how do you move photos to/from Portrait pro to LR? I have checked the Scott Kelby book and couldn't find answers so if you can provide info on where to look I would appreciate your efforts.

Thanks in advance.

I don't use Lightroom but if I remember correctly, Portrait Professional installed automatically into Photoshop CS5 as a plug-in as well as standalone. Someone else may have to confirm this - I'm using Vista. My memory's not as good as it used to be! ;-)

PP becomes an 'edit in' option in LR3 so all you do is tell LR where to look in the preferences once you've installed PP on your system. You do the initial work on the RAW file in LR then choose 'edit in PP10', this creates and sends a TIFF of your RAW to PP which opens automatically, you do the PP work and save back to LR, simple.

In CS5 PP is installed as a filter towards the bottom of the filter menu.

Hi Sean:

I just purchased Portrait Pro Studio and love it! You have to buy the Studio version to use it as a plug-in. I was looking around on the 32 v. 64 and didn't find anyone who said it made a difference in performance.

It's currently on sale, and if you use a discount code you can get an additional 15% off. I just bought Studio for $50.95 in the US.
