I took this photo of my little one for easter. I've done a little PP like lens blur but the big question I have is how to get make her eyes pop. Anyone have any advice on how to make her eyes look brown instead of black orbs.

Always tough with children. The image is a little underexposed and the eyes don't look quite sharp. I love her expression and she is a beautiful little thing.

OK, not so purely a hobby.

I know the eyes are all-important in portraits, but this one really works for me. There are so many features that draw the eye of the viewer that I don't think it is a problem. She is gorgeous and I think the picture works.
Just my two cents' worth!

Well, you could just boosting the luminance of the irises and also making the whites of her eyes whiter.

Two different shades, one for each eye. Lightroom brush on the retina. I don't know much about portrait photography, but if I'm not mistaken, the reflection of the flash should not be near the center of the eye if at all possible. Beautiful anyway, though.

If you have photoshop use the quick selection tool on each pupil and then go to image> adjustments> levels and drag the right hand slider to the left, You will see the eyes lighten, dont over do it or they will go grainy

I suggest a little brightening of the iris, maybe a 1/3 stop, no more, and a slight increase in saturation. In Lightroom there's a brush for this, in Photoshop you could lasso the iris and perform the action. I'm sure other PP software have similar tools.

Gave the eyes a little tweaking with Portrait Professional . . . whitened the whites a touch . . . browned the iris a touch . . . changed the reflection . . .
. . . Before . . .
. . . After . . .

Beautiful young lady . . . you should be proud!!!

Thank you all for your advice... and your comments. I've come to the conclusion that I need to really pick up a good PS/Lightroom book that can help with PP.
