I didn't buy the 60D for its video ability but this was my first crack at it. I did find it fun to mess around with though. I shot everything with a tripod and manual exposure control with 1/50th shutter. No filters used so a few times I was at f/22 due to my fixed shutter (a variable ND would have come in handy). This was my first time using Adobe Premiere as well.

That's a nice first attempt. Pleasant scenery and pretty sharp focus.

I wish I could offer suggestions, but while I've been doing stills for decades, I'm a newbie at video too.

Thanks for showing that. Folly is a beautiful place and I have spent many wonderful hours there over the years. I live only a few miles inland on James Island. Folly has changed a bit since Hurricane Hugo though. I wish the old Atlantic House was still there.

Back in 1975, it was a pristine stretch of beach. It still doen't look overpopulated, yet. Thanks for refreshing my memory.

Just the type of video that I'd like to create with my 60D--except not of a beach. The colors and focus are great. Good selection of background music. Very nice job.

BTW, I've been to Myrtle Beach to run a half-marathon there--although it was cancelled due to snow (2010)! Myrtle looks very similar to Folly.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Like I said it was nice to try something different. I wish I had the time and money to shoot more video with some really nice accessories. At the very least I wish I had a fluid head tripod, a fader ND and nice external mic with a wind screen.

Buy a good video fluid head for your tripod as your pans are too jerky.

This is quite good for starters or the 501 is even better but its makes a huge difference:

Also I would shorten the length of each clip as the viewer can easily lose interest when you are looking at the same scene for more than 3 or 4 seconds.

Good first effort though.

The pans are not jerky because of the video but the way vimeo process the clip. I have a fluid tripod and my pans are really smooth, but when I upload to vimeo they become jerky. It doesn't happen though on YouTube.

The pans are a little jerky it was pretty windy and tough to get a super smooth slow pan. Encoding can add to the shake tho. For the video I used mostly my 10-22mm and my 55-250mm.
