I just received my E-10 today. Everything seems to be working except for one thing. The viewfinder is not showing any info as far as camera settings, focus lock, etc. If I look in the right direction into the viewfinder, I can see the little screen that should be lighting up, but it doesn't. Is there a way to turn this on and off or did I get a bad camera? I have tried resetting the camera, taking the batteries out, different sets of batteries, etc. but nothing seems to help. Thanks in advance.

Brand new camera or used? Try turning the diopter knob, the entire round knob where you look through the viewfinder...

Hi. I have tried adjusting the diopter, but that doesn't seem to help either. The info just won't light up in the viewfinder for some reason.

This is a refurb E-10 that I just purchased. I am beginning to think that buying a refurb to save a little money may have been a bad idea.

The camera has to be turned on and then half press the shutter, the display should light up. I looked through my manual and I didn't find anything about turning the view finder display off or on.

You cannot set an option to turn off the display. Sounds like a fault to me.

I have been looking all over in my manual and didn't find anything about turning it on or off either. I have been searching on the forum for quite a while and only came up with one other similar situation like this. Looks like I need to send the camera back.

Yep, looks like the camera needs to be sent back. I have now shot about 100 pictures with it just testing it out. I believe 2 were in focus. I had the camera in auto focus and used flash in some, no flash in others. Looks like the camera has more wrong with it than just the viewfinder display. Time for me to pack it up and send it back.

Dwight,
Too bad you got a defective one...

I hope this doesn't sour you to the E-10...

I guess you're better off spending a little more money and getting a brand new one...the E-xx is well worth what ever you spend on it...

You will love it once you get a good one...

I love the look and feel of using a real SLR and the 8x10 prints I get from it just blow me away! While not the latest out there it is certainly one of the greatest...in a class of it's own...

Best of luck to you...you will not regret your choice...

You got a dud unfortunately - they're usually reliable, I used one professionally for quite a while and it stood up to the task beautifully..

Send it back and demand a different E10 as gawd knows what'll happen if they try to repair that one and it'll always be playing on your mind - a real friday nighter!, I don't think I had 98 OOFs out of mine in all the time I had it unless it was MY fault..

Hi BBB. I am just going to have to send it back and see what happens I guess. Hopefully this will all work out for the best here. I do have to say that from handling it so far it is a very comfortable camera to hold and use. Too bad all my pictures are out of focus:(

This one must have passed right by the Oly QC. It is a refurb with an older serial #, old enough that I know it didn't come with version 130 firmware. This one has version 133. It has 9500 pictures on it previously taken. Looks like they quickly fixed whatever may have been wrong with it and threw the newest firmware into it without checking it out fully.

Sounds like typical Olympus QC :( , it's only matched and probably beaten in incompetance by Sigma! (who I'm sure don't even HAVE QC) - I think that it's a testement to the E10's good design that most of them are reliable and work first time..

Hang in there, the camera is worth it!.

.... there are lots of posts here from people who have bought re-furbished E-10's and had nothing but good deals and pleasure.

Yours is the first I have seen posted here with a problem, don't give up as it is a genuine gold-plated classic and you'll love it, I'm sure.

Best of luck!

How can you tell how many pictures it has taken?

Thanks for the encouragement. The camera is going back today and I should have another one by the end of the week.
