i only have a crop sensor cam..... which one

Rokinon/Vivatar/Samyang

Sigma

Canon

.... like to get feedback from users/owners of each

Most reviews say the Samyang is one of the best fisheye lens out there and also happen to be by far the cheapest.

Yes, it's manual but that's not really an issue. Stick it to f5.6, 0.6m and enjoy a depth of field from 30cm to infinity.

Have a look at lenstip.com or photozone.de, great reviews there.

A friend of mine has the Samyang (or same under different name) and agrees that it is a very good lens for the money. He's had pictures from it published in magazines.

I have the Sigma 15mm f2.8 Fisheye on FF, my wife uses the 8mm f3.5 on crop, a length that Canon doesn't offer in fixed focal length. I compared my 15mm to the Canon version I rented when I first got the lens, and could see very little difference in the lenses except the Sigma seemed a little more saturated and was $200 cheaper. Her 8mm looks very much the same on her 40D as my 15mm does on my 5D, as far as sharpness (very good), CA (very little) and saturation (a little strong.)

That's what I bought. I think 500+ €/$ is too much for a lens that will not be used alot at the hands of an amateur. Quality seems OK.
If you're a professional and want top quality, go Canon.

I don't want this taken as confrontational, because it is a serious question. Why buy the non AF Samyang rather than the AF Sigma, is it merely price? I know the Sigma is significantly more expensive.

BTW, Canon doesn't make an 8mm fish, only an 8-15 and it's very expensive for a limited use lens.

Well, with an 8mm lens you don't really need autofocus, you can get pretty much everything in focus between 3 feet and infinity if you stop down to f5.6 or f8 (which is a good idea anyway to maximize sharpness and reduce CA). I got the Samyang for about 220€, a third of the price of the Sigma 8mm f3.5 here in Spain. I own the older Sigma 8mm f4 and the full frame Samyang is much sharper at the edges. I use the Sigma mostly for pole panorama shots as it gives me more coverage, but for everything else I grab the Samyang.

Congrats! Those are very nice shots.

I have the Sigma 10mm f2.8 rectangular fish eye and love it. I shoot it on a 7D and T1I. It's a focal length Canon doesn't offer but is equal to the 15 2.8 on FF.

Both of these images were shot on my T1I using it. Straight from the camera .jpegs, no post processing only in camera sharpening at 5,1,1.

don't have a fisheye lens, but does anyone have experience with the lensbaby fisheye? i already have the composer for my canon 7d, and have thought of getting the fisheye as a cheap(ish) add-on.

Why not buy a UWA without AF? I'm not using it for action shots anyway, I think that for the €300 difference is worth not having AF. Live view makes manual focusing easier. I wish it had communication with the body, though, just for the EXIF info. But it's not a deal breaker for me.

I have a Rokinon (aka Samyang) 8mm fisheye for my 7D and anther for my Sony A55. Good lens for the purpose and lack of AF, etc. is not an issue on such a lens.

Also have the Sigma 15 mm f/2 fishey for Canon. Great lens, but does not go as wide.

My entire reason for switching from MF to AF is my poor vision, so AF can be a deal breaker for me. Just curious...
