Not sure if people are already using DPP 3.9.2, but I upgraded to it yesterday and was pleasantly surprised that it has straightening option available now. It is now clubbed with trimming option (seems logical to me).

It is accessible from main window -> Trimming Angle.
OR
From Edit Window -> Start Trimming/Angle Adjustment tool (Alt+C).

Now for whatever little PP I do, I don't have to look beyond the bundled Canon software!

I was using DPP 3.8.0 before, and I didn't notice this feature?

Definitely, I wanted to straighten one pic, but couldn't do it in DPP, so at that time I used FastStone Viewer. Not sure how I would have missed noticing, I'm sure I looked all around for the option, but couldn't find. Anyway, now I have the tool, and that is what matters.

Yes, I know, I've used the trimming tool on DPP with version 3.8 too.

I am talking about the leveling or straightening tool that we can use to straighten horizons etc etc. I never saw that on DPP 3.8.

DPP 3.9.2 has Trimming + straightening tool.

The Canon support-downloads page for my XSi shows DPP 3.8.1.0 as the latest version available. Where do you get 3.9.2?

Do you have the option to straighten the photo in your version? If so which version?

I have EOS 1000D (Rebel XS) and downloaded 3.9.2 from Canon UK site.

3.8.1 has the trimming and straighten tool.

What I see is different is the buttons at the top there are more of them to get individual tools and the unmask tool. Looks good so far

As others have mentioned the straighten function was in v3.8.x - it was part of the Trimming Tool.

If memory serves, the straighten function started when one moved the mouse pointer (crop/trimming pointer) off the image at which time the pointer would change to 2 solid triangle arrows keys end-to-end pointing up/down.

Left click (I think) while moving the mouse arrow pointer up or down and the image would rotate, stop when it looked level.

Good Day,

I went to the Canon USA site and it has the latest version as 3.8.1 in April 2010. Not sure about the UK site, but it sounds like there might be different versions for different parts of the world?

I downloaded 3.9.2 from the europe site. Some reason they don't have it on the US site.

It sure seems like they have different versions available at different times in different regions.

I too first checked the Canon USA site, and found 3.8.1. I already had 3.8.0 so then I checked the Canon UK site where I found this version 3.9.2.
