Does anybody still use a D70? - (link to recent photo series)

The D70 is a good camera in light of the technology when it was introduced. I used one to back up my D100. It performed well. I think few people use them anymore because the latest sensor technology is much superior. I just put my D70 on ebay. I have no idea why I was holding onto it as I went through D200 and D80 to get to current kit of D300s and D90.

I still use a D70s...I just posted these in the "A few Pics from the Monterey Bay Aquarium".....sorry for the redundant post, but they're all I have in my gallery right now...

Yeah, I still use and abuse mine because it just won't die. I will say the D7000 is probably going to get me upgrade as I think I have skipped enough generations to notice some improvement.

Here's all I have in my gallery at the moment:

Here is my current slate of cameras: Coolpix 950, D70, D80 and D90. These cameras have found a home, and, like pets, they will never find their way to Ebay. They all get used, and are still working just fine. Now, I have my eye on a D7000. Oh, by the way, I have fifteen different lenses which also get used.

These babies remind me of my father's tool collection. I believe that dad had every tool that Craftsman made at the time of his death. Did he use all of them?? Probably. Sadly, these tools all disappeared when he passed and my sisters and their husbands descended and swept up all the goodies.

You should have seen my equipment collection when I was a Ham!!!!

Yes, I do - and it is my only DSLR. I've really not been overwhelmingly convinced that the image quality from newer bodies at normal or low ISO are that much better. My money's gone into good glass, not consumer zooms and super-zooms. The 7000 might eventually tempt me though.

Yes I do. I'm tempted by the D7000 though. According to the model number it is supposed to be 100 times better ;-). From specs it is not absolutely perfect (I'd like to have a tilt display and higher fps video mode) but it doeas leave very little to be desired. I certainly would like to get more dynamic range and resolution.

Here are some recent pics (including geotags in case someone is interrested).

I am still using the D70. I ordered the D7000 on Sept. 15 from Amazon. Today I received the email that there is an additional delay and they cannot estimate a delivery date. In a way I am glad there is a delay because it gives me an opporunity to change my mind. I am waiting until the D7000 is the hands of experienced photographers, and I want to see if they can match the beautiful pictures the D70 users have posted in this thread.

It's the only DSLR I ever bought and ever used. With the D7000 coming out, that may finally change.

D70s still shooting strong. 4yrs old and still my only dslr. I too am finally intrigued with a new camera. the D7K is the 1st one that has come along since my D70s purchase that has grabbed my attention and has me looking again. Meanwhile..........

I'm still using the D70. It is every bit as classic a camera as the D40 and will be remembered as one of the most important cameras in Nikon's history.

Although I was able to resist the D90, I'll probably treat myself to a D7000.

Although I've upgraded to a D300s, I keep my D70 and its kit lens (18-70) in the car as a backup. I used it just the other day when we took some friends to a local fossil park and I didn't think to bring the big rig. It still produces some nice shots. I'll see about posting a couple when I get on my other computer.

My D70 is still going strong... ish. There's a bright red stuck pixel that turns into a red stuck line at ISO 1600, and the lens mount may be slightly crooked after dropping the camera, but it still takes wonderful pictures (well, at least by my standards). Needless to say, we've been through thick and thin, and I still do not feel that I HAVE to upgrade. Bigger viewfinder/screen might be nice though.
