here is another bad photo, doctored up too!

That was very good HDR photo. How did you do it?

Miserably bad with atrocious doctoring. The gnomes at Solms are about to put a contract out on you, Ece! ;)

Keep them coming! This forum needs a lot more bad images like this.

This is absolutely "horrible ", Ece!... Shame on you!... ;)

I don't know why you call it "bad"!?... I think it is a very nice shot with a very dramatic sky!... It reminds me a little of "Avatar"!... I wonder how it is in B/W?

Warmest regards,

Lovely photo - I would have it on my laptop wall paper anyday :)

You are being a contrarian by liking this "bad" image. ;)

I used layers of color/texture "slides" and mostly softlight or overlay blending modes and around 50% opacity (depending on the layer). I have accumulated some texture shots over time that I use for this type of work. For example, when a see some concrete with cracks and water stains, I snap it and file it away. Then use it to texturize, depending on what type of effect I want to get. Most of it is trial and error, I just have a certain look in my mind when I start, then try to move towards it by trying various color/texture shots and blend modes. On this one, I also used a slight Gaussian blur.

All the best,
Ece

I love the fact that you agree with me on this! My time away from the forum was spent working on deteriorating my photographic skills to the point of very bad . I think I am getting there. :)

Much appreciate the support, while I reach my goal ;)

I know, I know, I've been bad...What can I say? Thanks for putting up with me! ;)

Avatar analogy is interesting because when my husband saw this, he immediately said, "this would make a nice sci-fi book cover, it's kind of like Avatar."

I will try the BW when I get a chance. You are the master and you see it much better than I ever could, until I try it.

Best regards,
Ece

Glad you agree! Much appreciate the support.

I should be banished from the pages of this place for posting such poor work and wasting people's time (my camera should be donated to a critic of choice) ;).

Thank you for looking in and for your feedback. I appreciate it very much. This is not HDR. As I tried to explain to fongy, I arrive at this by blending color and texture layers to the original image, and playing with sharpness (this one has low level blur) and sometimes saturation, depending on the original and where I want to take it. So it's essentially digital painting over the original.

All the Best,
Ece

Thank you! I am deeply offended that you liked this so much. ;)

I'd be happy to send you a larger file, if you like. :)

All the best,
Ece

allamande,

Actually, I really like it. :)
Quite unusual use of light and exposure.

At least you have the guts to post images, not unlike those that talk the talk but don't walk the walk and never post images.
Keep them coming.

Regards,

Len

Like others here, I suffer from OCD. Other Camera Disorder.

It's deeply reassuring to know that I can always count on your critical eye to weed out the riffraff, calling it for what it is!

My heartfelt thanks, as always. :)
