You guys have the good fortune to have a rep from Kodak, actually 2, right here on the forum with you.

Don't you think some of the posts are rude and disrespectful towards them. I have seen poems, baby talk, silly nonsense, songs all towards the guys with the answers. To me this would be about the same as shooting yourself in the foot. I am amazed. I would think being respectful and inteligent in communicationg would be more adult and mature. Does anyone agree?

Totallay Agree. Politics and Religion in a Photo Forum . Give me a break from the real world , nice to have the Kodak guys in here listening and we should treat them and everybody else with respect. This is not a joke this is our living.

I agree completely. Good post. This line of communication to Kodak is almost unbelievable to me and I appreciate it.

Hi Peter

Well, first of all, I think it's wonderful that they're here - and I totally agree with you that a couple of posts questioning their motives and criticising have been counter productive.

On the other hand, I thought the 'poetry' thread was innoffensive, and a bit of humour makes everybody's life more entertaining. Judging by their responses, and the fact that they to seem to have a sense of humour I would have thought they were generally positive threads.

There's a world of difference between 'silly nonsense' and rudeness.

kind regards

Hi,

correct me if I'm wrong, but I get the sense they are posting less and less as well. It's not surprising really. I suspect they were here in the hope of answering intelligent queries about their new pride and joy.

What they got were petulant demands for images, people challenging their pride in their camera and calling it vapourware.

Someone should have warned them, I guess :))

I actually suspect that they're having their work cut out with the product launch less than 8 weeks away - so I suspect that gives them far less time to visit the hundreds of forums to do with cameras which exist on the internet.

They aren't at our beck and call so they might have to skip visiting for several days at a time and be extremely selective at whichever threads they answer in, again, they can't possibly read them all.

First no problem with the humor thread. We all need a laugh!

I feel bad because they are being hammered for images that they are not ready to give out. I would love to see them also and cannot wait for this camera to be released. But this camera is simple just not ready period. No reason to beat up on them for that and it is simple great having them around to answer questions. Maybe they announced this a little earlier then they should have this far from production but that is marketing and It worked every one around here going crazy waiting for this camera

Since I was responsible for one of the humor threads, let me just say that I offered it only as a bit of comic relief. If you recall, at about that time there were a number of critical -- in my view offensive -- postings regarding sample images, delivery dates, as Carol describes below.

I apologize here and now for the thread. If you look at my history, you'll see my postings mostly speak to technical issues, sometimes to the pleasures of photography, and once in while try to reshape patently offensive threads. I'm an E-10 user , and in the market for a DSLR once the right camera shows up at the right price. I try to avoid offense at all times - but it seems like no good deed goes unpunished.

See you -- I doubt I'll be posting again.

Images is what its all about.

So i think that there is some justification in wanting to see what the picture quality is like.

In fact i think its the MOST important thing.(to photographers anyway).

If the hype is realy as good as the camera - then kodak will have a winner on its hands - for at least a few months anyway.

And their company and sales will be the better for it.

Nothing wrong with asking tough questions. It would be nice to see it done on a professional level.

How would one talk to these guys if you met them in person?...why not treat them the same way here.

Rick

............ anytime I've met the Nikon people I've known more about their product than they did.

We have a new Nikon tech person locally (since just before Photokina) who seems to keep himself abreast of the situations and apparently has accurate information. I don’t know Kodak and don’t know how well these guys know their product.

Anyway – on a professional level, please explain the technical term “rocks” to me, as used by one of these Kodak representatives, I think that set a tone, don’t you?

Please and thanks.

I didn't say the conversations had to be dry, humourless, and technical. And I don't begrudge Kodak getting excited by their own product...kind of makes me excited too. And I've never owned a Kodak camera so I have no consumer loyalty that makes me say that...actually I do have a Kodak disposable panoramic camera but I haven't used it yet.

I'm just a little put off by the signal/noise ratio here. And all these posts "demanding" to see samples...and the conspiracy theories. As far as I am concerned "samples" don't mean anything until they come from an independant reviewer.
Rick

Great – no camera at hand to discuss – so let us discuss the discussion : )

were they any less busy during Photokina? The first showing would have been madness for those involved with the project, I suspect. Jay Kelby posted quite a few times that he was up late reading posts and responding.

He doesn't do that anymore, as far a I can tell. The other guy doesn't seem to post at all.

We might hear more from them when there is more to say from an image example/quality perspective, but we all know what will happen. They'll just be told why the camera they say "rocks" doesn't do that at all, IMO.

They should just release sample images and cameras to reviewers like Phil and then let the market decide.

Plenty will buy this camera.

HI Jeff

I, and many others, including, I'm sure, the Kodak guys, enjoyed you're thread - there's plenty of technical stuff around here, without a little light-heartedness I wouldn't hang around, and I'm sure that's true of many others.

Keep at it - and enjoy you're E10 - I used to hang out there too, great times and lots of laughs.

I moved on, and I really like my D1X, but somehow nothing will ever be quite the same again.
