Ok, I have to say that you have greats photos on your site.
The site is fairly easy to navigate so well done there.

I have noticed that you seem to shoot with large DoF on about 99% of your photos.
There is nothing wrong with that, I guess it simply makes it your style.
I however prefer having shallow DoF for portraits.
Keep in mind I only looked at your wedding photos.

Keep up the good work.

Very impressive. You have an individual style that gives your subjects something special. And the way the website works ...kind of supports that ..keeping it unique.

Another poster mentioned the large DOF in the wedding portfolio and I agree. I actually shoot with a bridge cam and so I get that automatically and found it surprising after seeing your equipment list. The shot of the red-headed bride dancing with her groom ..is probably the one I noticed most. The arms of the couple behind them really intrude into their space.

Composition and impact though ..are outstanding!

All the best!

Thanks for your words, my friends.

The forum is “Lighting Technique.” Certainly there are many of his images that demonstrate the use of natural light and flash to shape and contour his subjects. In particular, in his wedding gallery there is an image of the groom standing looking at his bride who is seated in the church. The play of light outlining his face is very nice indeed. There is wonderful tonal graduation throughout the image. He has brought attention to the B&G leaving the witnesses as a secondary supporting element. His use of negative space and combing both natural light and flash is very much ‘strobist’ and is refreshing IMO.

OP,

Your pics are very good by and large. The lighting is very very good (and yes this does belong here for that purpose!)

The website is love-hate. It was hard for me to follow along as the pictures scrolled in different directions. However, it did keep me involved, constantly looking from one pic to another. I think this would work very well on the home page to hook the viewer, but i would tone it down in the portfolio (kinda opposite of what it is now, lots of pictures everywhere on the home page, simple scrolling on portfolio pages). I know you didnt ask about the site, so i leave you with this:

Lighting is fantastic!

I really like your photos, however I hate your website. The scrolling images are painful to navigate.

Found the site to be a bit busy, but it still works. The only real issue I have and it may seem pedantic but the address is too long. Marketing is as much about impressions as it is about the talent and two backslashes are two too many. I found godaddy to be very easy to search and create a unique .com address. Fairly cheap too. Your work is of a caliber that deserves to be master of it's own domain. ;-)
Cheers, Pete

I like the male form images, in particular the one with the male standing at the train with arms out.

I am not so keen on the portraits. There is nothing wrong with them, lighting is good etc but they are just not to my taste - but then who's to say my taste is any good!

I have to agree with others on the website though, the scrolling images are a bit of a pain!

What's wrong with the website. I didn't think it was all that bad!

The images are too small to do justice to your work. Why only 256 px width???

When I double click on any of the images I see approx. 885 px width and very easy to navigate through using the right and left arrows.
