Problem with 60D, pictures not sharp ??

Ha ha ha! LMAO.
Like many of the maligned and under-appreciated things in life:
Woweeee! When you first look at it, it's just a horse's ass. But after you click it becomes a unicorn. How cool is that!!!
That would make a great signature! Mind if I steal it? :P

i had similar problem, had to go through the manual to find out the bad new

60D requires "and this is for every single shot...............boring" that u push the shutter bottom on the top of the camera.....at the same time u are holding up your camera

any then u have to keep the rest of your hands still so as to not to get blury pictures.........how anyone supposed to do that????

Well I'm returning mine because sometimes I shake so bad...so I thought a 1/8000 frame rate at ISO 6 Billion...would be tack sharp with no lens on the camera...But all I got was a black square on screen when I downloaded it...

I'm actually very happy eversince I bought my new 60D in Petsmart. After YEARS of waiting for this feature, Canon finally saw the light and included a compartment in 60D body for my german shepard's kibble food. Now heading out for full days of picture taking with Keira is SO much more comfortable.

Oh, and best of if is, it also has in-camera Flavor Correction!! Keira is very happy that Canon finally got an xxD body right for the canine photographer population.

Why is everyone saying it's a pro camera? Like the 7D it costs under $2,000 and I see soccer moms with them. How can it be a pro camera? It is not even full frame! And why is Canon putting out eleventeen megallipixels out of a crop sensor?

I hear there is banding if you underexpose and push up the image by 5ev in postprocessing.

Screw this. I'm getting a Nikorn D8000 instead because NIKORN knows how to make cameras. It's full frame and does only three megapixels so I KNOW it will be low noise, and Nikorn lenses are cheaper!

Too bad, I was considering switching to a DSLR, but after this revelation, I think I'll hang on to my trusted EOS-3 a little longer. :-)

If it has 18MP and a swivel screen its a done deal it will be in my stocking for christmas... along with the 10-22 lens.

Is anyone else having problems with the 60D's built in Heisenberg compensator? I took a picture of my mother-in-law, and she disappeared in a bunch of glittery lights. We haven't seen her for weeks now, is this a bug or a feature?

Actually, and I mean this honestly not to be a smartass, why would you want an articulated display in a ruggedized, weather-sealed pro camera body?

I can rattle off a long list of cons against it (I'll limit the list here to 5 or 6), and maybe two pros.

Pros:
  • Make MySpace-style self-portraits easier
  • Enable you to view from difficult angles, e.g., camera on the ground aimed up
Cons:
  • introduces multiple electrical failure points
  • an articulated screen is extremely difficult to ruggedize without significant size and mass
  • The camera body will either need to be larger, the controls squeezed together more, or the screen will need to be smaller
  • it introduces multiple mechanical failure points
  • It vastly complicates weather sealing
  • It will make the body much "deeper" front to back - well, at least a few mm, but this means the bag you use for your XXD now might not fit the 60D
Actually I did think of one more Pro , to be fair:
  • The body could be kept slightly cooler by moving the LCD's backlight external to the body
There are third-party external monitors and electronic viewfinders available for both XXD and XD models which offer far more flexibility than an articulated LCD screen, with NONE of the disadvantages

You guys really got the camera?? I only received the instruction manual, and there was no camera! Wonder what's the technology involved. Or is it that I pay for imagining whatever it is going to be?

So much to see.....so l'il time to capture!!

Pros: Macro photography. Tripod photography. Waist level photography, allows better perspective control for wide angle and a perspective akin to the twin-lens Rolliflex style of film photography. Discreet photography (no.... ooohhh look an SLR... what brand?). Better rapport with casual subjects (camera is not a barrier that hides your face and subject relaxes much more). All instances where direct line of sight to camera view screen is compromised... above the heads in crowds, over/under/around the edges of things difficult or dangerous to deal with. No need to shoot blind. No need to take lessons in Yoga to take the best shot.

Multiple electrical failure points: I don’t accept this unless the design is fundamentally flawed, we have lived in a world full of laptops, flip/slide mobile phones and articulated displays for a lot of years now. The electrical problems you are alluding to existed, once, long ago. Your argument in this regard is akin to saying a six cylinder car has more chances of having problems in its engine than a four cylinder car. It is factually correct but technology has made the difference so negligible as to be irrelevant.

Weather sealing: Can you take that ruggedized weather-sealed pro camera body, dunk it in a swimming pool for sixty seconds and have it come out alive? No. Yet there are cameras that can do exactly that. So why are not all cameras waterproof? Because one camera cannot do everything well and to do certain things means compromising other things. The weather sealing issues are the swivel hinge mechanism. I would worry FAR more about a lens that was not internal focus+zoom.

Ruggedness: Impact it with the swivel screen out you risk more damage. Impact it with the swivel screen folded closed you have less chance of damage.

Size: Both Nikon and Canon have made their SLR's much larger than they need to be from an engineering standpoint, thats crystal clear. However the inroads made into the marketplace of small cameras is recognised by Canon and you can expect Canon SLR cameras to shrink in future be it with or without articulated screens.

'Gadget X' is better than an articulated screen: Those gadgets do a better job than an articulated screen in some situations and less so in others. Even if your argument were 100% true it would still be akin to saying the DVORAK keyboard is better than a QWERTY keyboard.... 99.999% of people would never see it or even be aware of it... in general people would only be aware of the benefit if it was placed in their hands directly for 'free'.

There is nothing wrong with the camera that is resulting in OOF shots, it's your poor technique and the fact that you don't know how to use the new super brilliant focusing technology, even if you have used and mastered every other DSLR produced

I think you replied to the wrong message....

"Now, that is funny, I don't care what you say; Lord forgive me and please bless the pigmies."
