LCD protection

Wish I knew that.

However, since the Sony Clie NR70 has the best color screen (highest resolution, highest clarity) of all the PDAs on the market, I assume if there are difference in clarity in WriteRight, they would want to make the best for the Sony.

On second thought, the ones I bought look pretty clear, much more so that the old ones for Palms. Only when I applied them to the LCD that I see the reduction in clarity. Perhaps they are the same as the ones for WinCE and I shouldn't waste another $20.

I have both WriteRight, one for WinCE and the other for my Palm PDAs.
So I used the WinCE for my D-60 LCD and the other CLIE 615c.
The Palm WriteRight have a texture feel to them the WinCE lack that.

IMHO Sony CLIEs are the state of art when it come to PDA. This is
my second one and I will only use CLIE as my PDA choice. Hopefully
in the future we can take our D-60 photos and view them on CLIE. :)

Saran Wrap, LOL!! No, seriously! Not even thinking that there were such a thing as LCD protectors when I first started out, I used to stick saran wrap over my LCD screen. It works for me, lol! And cheap at the price, too!

I am trying to find the correct WrightRite, it is supposed to be the one for Palm IIIc (note c). I have been to circuit city, best buy and compusa. They all have one for "all models of Palm III (excluding c)". Can someone give me the actual part number for the c version and maybe where they bought it?
I use WriteRight PDA screen protector by Fellowes. Cut to fit.
Works well for me. Bought package of 12 at Circuit City on sale for
$10.00.

When I posted this question a month or so ago, there were people who were recommending a product called Clear Bra from 3M. I think it is now renamed Paint Protection System or something like that. Wish I could give you some actual user feedback but unfortunately, I haven't had any success finding the stuff here in Canada. It's supposed to be "bullet-proof" and very clear as it goes on areas like the hood of your car/truck and prevents rock chips, etc.

If anyone has access to this stuff and is willing to help me get some, please let me know.

Juli, The people who sell Da Product recommend that you slide thread of dental floss behind Da Protector and gently work it loose then clean the lens with some kind of goo cleaner.
I've got to find the directions that came with it to see what it
suggests about removal. I think you can, but I haven't tried it
yet.

Since I just got my D60 and haven't had time to get to the store to buy the WriteRight that right, I did the Saran Wrap. It acutally sorta works. I am sure this will start a very long discussion on which brand is better, but I think the more expensive name brands will be better. The store brand I used doesn't stick really well and actually has some type of pattern in it for strenght. It works ok at least for the price until I get something better. Good suggestion!

Well,

I have just ordered one da protector for my D60.

I don't know how many time will it take for it to arrive in France... Not too long i hope !

But I still don't know why this kind of products don't even exist in France !!

You should definantly use something to protect the LCD from
scratches... it will hurt resale value (not to mention your ego)
if you manage to scratch the LCD.
That's circular. It would hurt resale value if you had a scratch on the LCD or anywhere else, but the question was "has anyone ever managed to scratch the LCD".

My machine's coming up to two years old with 25k on the clock and you get general wear and tear on the switches (the "set" logo rubs off for example), the plastic goes shiny where you handle it, but the LCD is like new.

Taking this to extremes, the best resale value would be if you just left it in the box. Or even better do a Biggles and just pretend that you have it ;-) I guess it all depends where you draw the line. For me functionality wins over looks any day (with my looks I'd have to say that)... if I have to mollycoddle the thing then it's no use to me.

Yeah, I'm using it on both. I actually ended up scratching the top LCD on my late D30. What are the odds of that? I've since put writeright protectors on both the rear and the top LCDs on my 1D.
Mike
What do you use to protect the LCD? I see da products has one that
fits the D-30. Is the D-60 LCD the same size? Or what do you
recommend? I see where one person has mentioned using Palm III
clear sheets.

Thanks for the follow up. Can you tell there is something on the LCDs? Or does it look normal?

Just 4 days for receiving the products in France, it's cool...
With it I can be a hardcore D60 user now !!!! :-))
