LCD protection

Hey, Erg...

So... who do you suppose designed the computer you are working on, the chair you are sitting on, the building you work in? Hmmm. Ummm... what is it that you contribute, exactly?

There are good engineers and bad engineers, just like anybody else. And one thing many engineers absolutely hate, its the critic who complains that the doohicky they designed DOES save lives (or somesuch), but is the WRONG color... so its no good.

Brian...
First, you shoud stop taking pictures of your own mug.
I discovered he was an Engineer. We have all had to deal with the
stupidity of items designed by engineers. I don't think that was a
purposely crass or childish remark. It was just another thing that
was designed by another engineer with no concern for reality,
practicality or how their failure might hurt someone else. All
lowlifes deserve a chance to express their opinion and prove their
stupidity. With that in mind ... I applaud mccance's comment.
Regards,
Erg

Welll .. you just open the thread and there it is .. BAM.

Not many threads have that.

It was alarming. I just wrote the first thing that came to mind.

I'm sure you people find the candor and honesty refreshing.
believe me, nothing refreshing about rudeness on this forum....we've all seen it much too much
LOL.

Ok, lady screen protector, I apologize. It was more that the photo
was there, not that it was you.

Now for the rest of you crybabies, you're on your own.
nobody was crying, just pointing out how rude and immature you must be!
Good evening,

Rob the engineer.

ps. isn't someone going to tell me what a talent void I am and that
all the photos on my site are garbage?
to be honest, after your only comment, which was childish and un called for (cry baby?), i wasn't interested in looking at your photos
Or, will just trashing the people (engineers) who provide you
almost everything besides life itself suffice for you shallow
thinkers?
I work with engineers all day long, constantly having to correct them.....some are good, some , real idiots......which are you?
LOL again.

Later
much later, I hope.....too bad forum rules don't permit me to say what I would like to say...lol
I use WriteRight PDA screen protector by Fellowes. Cut to fit.
Works well for me. Bought package of 12 at Circuit City on sale for
$10.00.

NO, it seems that you already know this......

NOT ALL engineers, just the ones who act like you........
LOL again
great closing statement..........you must build baby toys eh??

I have experienced that with the da products stuff on both of my digitals. I think I will get some of those PDA protectors. Thanks for the tip.

Let's chill out. I accept the apology. Let's go on with being nice. I have gotten lots of good suggestions about the protection for the LCD. I'm going to head for a store that stocks PDA stuff.

I also use the da oly protector on my D30.
Just a question about this product :

Is it possible to remove the protector without leaving adhesive or glue on the screen ?

I could be interested in this product, since we can't find this type in France. Do you knoxw if they deliver products in France ? (I'm waiting for their answer...)

Thanks by advance.

This subject keeps popping up periodically. I am unable to understand why the LCD needs any protection at all. What's exposed is not the LCD itself anyway but a plastic cover on it.

Has anyone actually ever scratched their LCD? Just curious.

I'm not sure. I myself haven't tried removing it. But I seem to remember that you should be able to remove the adhesive completely. Try shooting them another email and ask - they might know

I've got to find the directions that came with it to see what it suggests about removal. I think you can, but I haven't tried it yet.

Yes, it removes perfectly. The glue will actually peel off -- it's more of a solid than a liquid. I think there was a tiny bit of residue left, but I wiped it with my shirt and it looked like new. In short, you'll be able to take it off without leaving any residue behind. If you do remove it though, make sure you twist it off instead of pulling it off.

I used one of these on my D30, but I bought some of the Fellowes Writeright sheets for my 1D.

Take Care,

You should definantly use something to protect the LCD from scratches... it will hurt resale value (not to mention your ego) if you manage to scratch the LCD.
I guess I wanted to keep it looking like new in case I ever wanted
to sell it. I've done that with two camera before. I hope the
D-60 will be my last move.

The cheapest solution is to use a PDA screeen protector.
I use WriteRight but make sure is for Win CE devices, they
are clear. The ones for the Palm are not clear, I used them on
my Sony CLIE. I have used them on every digital camera I have
owned, Kodak 4800, Oly 3040, E-10, D-30 and D-60.

The WriteRight for the "Palm" are not clear

Someone must have plenty of time on there hands thinking I care
what they say!

I bought a box made for Sony Clie NR70 and used it on my D60. While it is better than the old one for Palm, it is still not as clear as I hope it would be. I am looking for a new solution. Perhaps I shall try NuShield next as it had a pretty good review from http://www.the-gadgeteer.com/nushield-screen-protector-review.html .

Wish I could get a free sample from them. For those who want a sample of my mostly unused box of WriteRight, shoot me an email.
