Check out this D-60 shot!

personally I think they have
issues other than my photos and just dont know where to vent the
energy so it comes out on me. ; )
No, it is sleaz, I don't have any other issues. A fall in morals has always marked the downfall of strong civilizations. These pictures, though not without artistic merit, appeal mainly to the genitals of the male viewers. An open-minded read of about half the other posts makes that quite clear.

In any case, I have no interest in debating the merit or lack thereof in your pictures in this forum, I just object to opening this post with my wife and kids sitting behind me when these kind of images are not allowed here.

Bob

Why apologize for "posting a suggestive picture" and then take a shot at the person(s) you offended with your comment about their having other issues.

I have an issue with you, you have a lot to learn.

Let me make something clear. I apologize to the board for not following the guidelines, and to anyone offended. However, you call my work sleazy and I have the right to defend that. I disagree. I think, based on the hundred emails I get a day asking technical questions on how I get the shots I get, that its not all about sleaziness. For you it is, for others, its not. You just cant see through it because you have issues.

Good luck with your issues, I wish you the best. Unless you have CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, please dont respond. The blanket statement that its sleazy does nobody here any good. Lets keep this productive in some fashion and give us something that we can grasp.... not preaching about sleaz. Move on to doing something more effective by stopping some of the internet porn and REALLY making a difference. Ill back you up 100%.

Sharing another one of my photos with you all...... any and all feedback is welcome!

Good feedback! I may tone it down a bit before I send it in. This image will be published in a national magazine.

Thanks!
Very nice image! I love the composition. IMHO The butt is the
brightest part of the image and competes with the young ladies
"eyes" for the viewers attention. If the butt is toned down
slightly, the focal point would be the face #1, and body #2 as this
is a fairly close crop and focus point of the face and those
fantastic grab you "eyes"

Steadman, Appreciate the feedback.. its good data!!!! Ill use it
for sure. if you do get a chance, pick up a Maxim, the articles
are good!
Steadman, the articles STINK, pick it up for the photos. BTW, there is NEVER any nudity in the mag. (U.S. version at least.) PLety of suggested nudity such as the work of Markese, but no hey-nows showing.

:)

Rich,

No need to appologize. There are many aspect of your images that many people could learn from.

If it ever come down to someone complainning to Phil to get you kick off the forum, they can kick me out too because the forum would then be of no use to me.

Check out PhotoSIG, that's where I'm probably going to spend more time from now on.

Leave the guy alone! He has his problems, let him handle it.
It's a free country and a free forum. Don't like it - don't look at it.
Give me MORE!!!

I have spoken out occaissionally on this forum and the Pro forum about x-rated pics. Unfortunately, pornography is a very profitable field and many are interested in pursuing that strain. That being said, I do not believe that your images are "pornographic" or deserve to be labelled in the same grouping, and I am a very conservative person, probably one of the most conservative on this forum.

Are some of your pictures suggestive? Yes. Do they lack artisitc merit? NO! I would love to be able to utilize your level of skill for portraiture, even if it is for more "conservative" subject matter. You have many images that aren't "suggestive" that are excellent, such as the one you just shared. I would not ever tell you to stop posting images, or links if appropriate, though some have taken to attaching a warning label that I would appreciate, too. The reality is that I can quickly close the window if it is too extreme and not have any hard feelings.

Photography is a field with many tasted and avenues. I greatly appreciate Phil and his rules for posting, as it makes this forum have fewer land mines than Miranda or some other forums. To me, you are a valued contibutor to this forum and show a skill level rare in the postings here. Please do not stop posting images, or links if appropriate. I would love to learn more about how you create your images as it will help me in my pursuits.

Thank you in advance

I agree with you guys, let's just ignore this Bob Graham person. It's obvious that he can't keep his closed minded comments to himself. If we all kept his frame of mind I suppose we'd all be living in a 15th century monastery someplace.

[by the way, the last I checked my wife doesn't have any male genitalia to appeal to yet she enjoys the same photography and exhibits at the museum that I do featuring male or female forms - but I digress, this must make us both serious deviants and perverts in Bob's world.]

"...appeal mainly to the genitals of the male viewers."

Now I have to go to the doctor to check out to see if I'm sexually disfunctional because my 'genitals' didn't respond when I saw this picture. My first thought was "wow...she's really hot!...those eyes!". Then I was impressed by the quaity etc and wondered how it was shot.

The ONLY issue should be the poster putting Explicit...which its not or Suggestive in the title. Thats it. Otherwise, DONT read or look if you don't like. Heck, the CENTER OF ATTENTION in the shot is her EYES....nope, not her 'genitals' as 'Bob Graham' would say, but her eyes. So looking at a woman's eyes and having your jaw drop makes you a total pervert.

Well, im off to the doctor, just opened the picture again to test my parts out and nothing happened again :( I hope its an easy cure...

Markese,

Including a warning in the subject line of the post is standard etiquette in this forum. This informs the viewer about the nature of the content of the post so that they can skip it if they do not wish to view it.

Do a search for 'Paul Pope' to see the history behind it.

As far as some technical questions that some of you have asked
about, Ive been out of town and just checked back on the thread
now to see alot of posts. The shot was done using 5 hotlights from
3 directions. Each light is 500 watts, all diffused and geled to
get the right look. To be honest I dont remember specifically how
everything was diffusedd/geled HOWEVER I do always take a making of
shot when I shoot so I can go back and see exactly what I did to
acheive and image. Ill have to dig that out... I didnt even
convert it from raw yet. It was also shot with Canon D-60 with a
Canon 28-70 2.8L lens.

I talked with Phil.... from now on I will link to my photo I wish
to share.... this way nobody is offended. Yes it is mature
material but hopefully everyone agrees there is skill behind it and
that its not just snapped and a lucky photo. lol

Ok... hope some of this helps! Thanks for the feedback... and by
the way.. no this wasnt posted for marketing, it was posted for
feedback and sharing of a shot I felt good about.

Heres the shot I am speaking of here...

Apologizing in advance, I can't help but wonder if Bob Graham is related to Billy. (Sorry 'bout that)

These aren't my kind of pictures, but I see nothing offensive about them. I would object to pornography, but these pictures are not pornography. For heavens sake, what does offend me is the language in some of the posts; the way we sometimes tear perfectly sincere people down. If anything, that is what will destroy this generally terrific forum.

By the way, I don't think the reference to a monastery is right either. You don't have to be a prude to be a monk. You just have to keep it to yourself.

...in the you-know-what (in case your wife or kids are reading over your shoulder ;-)

Just be glad you've only wasted 3 months here in this den-of-iniquity before discovering the ugly truth.

Jeez, ...talk about feeling bad for someone. (not you, ...the wife and kids!)

Maybe there's still time, ...try to grow-up a little.

Larry
If one wants to look at suggestive pictures, there are a zillion
web sites to go to. This is supposed to be one where you can open
posts with your wife or kids sitting behind you and not have to
worry about sleazy garbage like this showing up. If you all think
this is wonderful, I feel bad for you.

Is there a reason that you thought the image was sleazy?...

was there something in "your mind" which said sleazy?

did this image stir things within you , which you feel a little guilty about?

Personally, when I view the image, I see art, skill, technique, and beauty

I don't see how anyone could see otherwise. But maybe that's because I don't have a 1 track mind.

LOL!!!!!
Blown highlights .....errrrrr intentional don't you think?????
Another outstanding image. Great "appeal." Rich color. Intense
eyes. Good pose.

Some editors would toss it because of the blown highlights. Gotta
watch those. They are so bright that they take the eye away from
face/eyes.

keep shooting and keep posting. Thanks for sharing with us.

Are you using the zebra stripes for overexposure in your LCD?
Check it out in custom functions for LCD display. Or...since this
is studio work, possibly shoot tethered and use a laptop for better
judgement between shots. Breezesys.com has a D30 (D60?) Remote
that is supposed to be a big help with quick review.

THeir are a bunch of nutcases stalking this forum to whom the word "Glamour" means porn. The are usualy extreme right wing Christians and when you look at thier galleries they have lots of awful photos of kids and pets.

Don't worry about them .....I see the usual subjects in the posts against you most of whom couldn't light a candle let alone a photograph.
At any rate.... here is another shot I recently took... again Im
always up for feedback....

Rich .... you are GOOD ....really GOOD .... EXCELLENT !!!!
To get that sort of look with 3 fairly average lights is a achievment.
Styling is good
Makeup is good
Background is good
Model is excellent (possibly your best)
Now I've got to take care of my lighting again ;-)

To all the people giving sh*t to Rich .....

This guy has posted possibly one of the best photos of a human ever taken with a D60 look and learn. He's a very good photographer that does something people don't get much of here which is understand light. If you

still think he's sleezy then go off back to the hole you crawled out of and pray for your own salvation because you will never be a photographer.
