This is from Fuji UK website 10 fps up to 7 shots, I don't understand, how can this = 10FPS?!? or am I missing something. I would like to get this for airshows etc but to only be able to shoot 7 and then wait for how long for them to be saved..... could someone try continuous shooting and see how many and how long it takes to take the next burst.

Since it's a "rate" I would imagine it means that you would only be able to take 7/10th second bursts at a time? Would still equate to 10fps, just that you could not shoot for a full second.

You'll need to wait around 12 seconds between bursts.

It's the speed it shoots at, not the quantity...

In other words, it shoots 1 frame in 1/10th of a second but can only do it 7 times in a row... So it will give you a burst of 7 total frames in 7/10th of a second...

As for how long before it's ready for another burst, I wouldn't know yet until I get mine... A lot would depend on how fast the camera writes and how fast the card can be written too... A class 2 SDHC card may cause it to take longer than a class 6 or higher card...

You also have the option of shooting 3fps for 2+ seconds (7 shots).

I also forgot to mention that the Best Capture continuous mode allows you to shoot continuously for a long as you want by holding down the shutter (storing in memory only the last 7 images). The camera will only start writing to the card the last 7 images once you release the shutter. This could be very useful.

Ok thanks for the replies, could be worth look then and an upgrade from my fuji 6500

sounds OK for its class...those who really need bursts will go for the DSLR's
The Casio EX F1 still provides the fastest bursts (60fps) .... and the newer FH-100 is 40fps.

Both also have to pre-exposure buffering.

Personally, I think 7/10 fps pre-exposure buffering is NOT sufficient to really catch the "peak" of action to the extent 40/60 fps can. (A lot can happen in 1/10 sec with fast-moving action.)

But I suspect there is still a writing delay which will require delays between bursts.

It also appears that the Casion FH-100 has HDR, (but it is not called exactly that).

WITH the 30X zoom, I still will consider the HS10, IF it has some form of HDR.

but you can use the FULL HD movie feature and get 30fps at 2 megapixels and you can get up to 29 minutes of pictures, of course you will need to use video software to extract the pictures.

for sure I would go out and buy a 7d, but that and a telephoto lens I don't have 3k+ to spend. my 6500 is 4 years old now when it was released the burst rate is 3fps only 3 images, sounds like we haven't progressed that much....

On the s100fs I haven't found that to be useful because the focus is locked on on the first frame. If you hang on awhile then capture the last 7 ...they are all out of focus ...unless shooting something that is relatively stationary. Not like a DSLR that focuses each frame at 7fps.
