Hi

if you don't like cats - move on quick!

If not - here's the link:

http://www.slack.co.uk/Suffolk2002/Kittens2/index.html

We have a new litter of kittens - off to their new homes next weekend. I missed some of their growing while on holiday, so these are divided into two sections - some at 4 weeks, and some at five.

I've tried hard to get an original slant on the issue, but I'm afraid it's still hard to avoid the sugary. As you can see, some have had LOTS of photoshop work. This time eight were taken with the Nikon 5700 and the other four with the D1X - can you tell the difference (before you look at the file names!).

here are a couple of samples:

this is cropped tightly from a larger shot - converted to black and white, and the eyes brought back to their original colour using the history brush.

This one is pretty much straight out of the camera (exposure is horrible with black kittens!).

I hope you enjoy these - if not I apologise!

Kind regards

Hi Jono,
Those are some great shots.

Interesting timing, I just checked your gallery yesterday looking for new good stuff (I always start out trying to clean out my bookmarks, and get distracted and never end up organizing them). I'm going to have to try your technique with bringing back the eye color after converting to B&W on my (demonic overweight) cat.

Hello Jono! Just adorable.......I love cats/kittens.....I have three. I especially like your black w/blue eyes. Now I'm going back to try and see if I can tell the D1x from the 5700. K.

Hi Ed

Yep - the website is up for some extra stuff now - I've just come back from Crete - I've cut the photos down from 900 to 200, and some are definitely unsuitable ;-) (e.g. the famous sweetwater beach naked boule championship). but there's still scope for quite a few pages on the site - watch this space!

As for the eyes trick - cheap thrill, but it does work - and it's easy - even with my pathetic photoshop skill!

Hi Judy

Thank You! I was trying to be just a little different. As I write, they're going berserk in our sitting room, up and down the curtains, over the top of all the furniture - madness!

No indoor shots with the 5700 I'm afraid!

glad you liked them.

Hi Koo

The file names should give you the clue!

Incidentally - my damn printer STILL hasn't arrived!!!!

I think it's quite easy to tell the difference, but I'm not sure quite what it is, a kind of 'smoothness' I think.

Hipe you're well

kind regards
jono

p.s. have you got your Kodak 14n on order yet? I've put my name on the list, this one seems like a no-brainer.

Actually, looking at it again ( http://www.slack.co.uk/Suffolk2002/Kittens2/a08.html ) the little chap appears to be pulling off a decent impression of Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes ... what a shot
